So I have a hole in my radiator and need a replacement. NOBODY carries the one for the MSP. I have heard that you can use a regular Protege radiator but have to change the radiator fan to a regular one as well. I have a FMIC so I don't need the side mount and I have a slim condenser fan. Is the one fan all I would need?

Thanks, but I guess I should have stated that I don't feel like paying that much for a radiator. My friend owns a shop and can get me a regular radiator for $80 and the fan with shroud for $50, so that's a lot cheaper. So can it be done?

Yeah, but you may run into overheating issues especially with being in S. Florida...

Negative. The stock MSP radiator is higher capacity. It's MUCH thicker than the regular sedan one. This has been discussed much.

It's a bigger radiator
Negative Nancy. If you compare the core thickness to that of the MSP, you'll quickly see how prone to heat soaking the P5 radiator is going to be.

And FYI, look at my sig... I'm speaking from experience which is why I've got a Ron Davis aluminum radiator being shipped to me today.

I agree with everyone above, you should be looking at the OEM replacement or the Ron Davis or Mishimoto to meet your needs. I ordered my Mishimoto on Monday and it was received yesterday. Reach out to Cres @ CR3 he will take care of you!

Yeah , agreed ^ I recently ordered a cheap 50$ radiator for a regular protege (long but sing core not dual) , my car doesn't over heat but it boils away the coolant without overheating my car while the ac is on , boils away while at a stop as well. So I would spend the extra buck and get what u pay for

With Mishimoto you get a limited lifetime warranty with the OEM from Mazda it is 12 month warranty.....quality is quality

And that warranty is so freaking awesome. its easy to get it replaced. just hold on to your receipt and what not.

Someone... I think Crossover has the Mishumoto on sale right now for $230

Well the setup I used works just fine. I did have to replace the upper brackets with a regular Protege but I got those for free. The cap that came with the radiator was too low psi so I put a higher one on and no boil over. I drove over 100 miles in the city today in 90+ degree heat. Thanks for the input but I need to save every dollar I can considering I'm buying a house and just bought a boat.

I'm telling you man, you're going to have problems with overheating... I'm not the only person this has happened to.
