1997 Protege LE
Hello all.
I bought a 1997 Protege LE about 1.5 years ago. It had 110,000km when I bought it for $900 from a Mazda Dealer here in GTA, CANADA.

I bought the car after my motorcycle accident, because I couldn't use my clutch foot on my manual car until full recovery - so I sold the manual car and bought the automatic Protege 1.8L. I bought the Mazda thinking it will last a year, die, and i'd move on to something newer/better again. I've driven it pretty hard since I got it, and it's still going strong.

I decided I'll start warming it up and whatnot to make it last another year and half. So I ended up buying a ProStart remote starter from CanadianTire for $50 (on sale). It's a good unit. My wife has it on her car for many years, and it still works wonderfully. It was installed by the dealer when the car was new.

ANYWAY....this is turning into a long post.

My question:
I'd like to install this unit in my Protege. I've never installed a remote starter before, but I'd like to give it a shot.
I obviously am not going to pay someone to do it (I got quotes ranging from $150 to $300).

I figure for $50, i'll try to install myself and see what happens....the cars probably worth about $400 now anyway.

Does anyone have experience installing the remote starter?
I have the 4 button version with door locking/unlocking, and trunk release.

I know I can't use the trunk release, but I do have automatic doors, mirrors, windows, etc.

Any videos, tips, etc would greatly help.
I did some research already, and found that I need a resistor to make the door lock/unlock work...not sure what that means.

Again, any help for a newb would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
