Putting the summer OEM driver's floor mat over the liner??

I really like the floor liners in my CX-5 as they are easy to keep clean. However, is it ok to lay the OEM summer mat over the floor liner on the driver side?? The floor liner is buttoned down whereas the OEM summer mat would not be buttoned down. I understand the warning that says one should not do this because the summer mat may slide under the break or gas pedal and cause an accident....but how likely is this?? In the winter, I'd like to switch out the summer mat for the winter mat (I had winter mats included in the deal when I bought the vehicle). Anyways, is it really a bad idea to lat a summer (or winter) mat down on the drivers side over top of the floor liner that is buttoned down??

big NO... unless you like to live dangerously (and put other people's life in danger also)

I think it was Toyota that had a recall because of faulty driver side floor carpet that would get loose and block the accelerator or get under the brake pedal.

I'd agree with and say no, unless you can safely secure the mat to the liner.

Why not pickup some custom fit mats by weather tech or spyder?

Floor mats are not meant to be put over the slippery, plasticky surface of the floor liners. They will slide around too much. But, I don't see why industrial strength velcro tape on the mat-to-liner surfaces wouldn't work. Or, though more complex and creative, extend the the factory hooks/stems longer and put the floor mats secured to that, maybe even in conjunction with the velcro.

Thx for the responses, guys. I'll stick with simply the floor liner for the front drivers side....and put the OEM summer mats over top of the floor liners for the front passenger and back passenger floor areas. Better to be safe than sorry.
