Project Black has Begun! - Colorado

Sweetness. I really like the 2008's without the split. Some seem to have a spoke aspect. I like the flat ones.

Also, I was messing around with the endlink, and tried to tighten it. I jacked up the arm to try and get the best angle to tighten the end link, and it seemed to be tight. Maybe I need to jack it up higher. Any tips on tightening end links?

I just got new sway bar bushings, and control arm bushings installed, so I know those are good.

Still have a clicking/knocking sound when taking off and braking...not sure where to go with that.

do you feel anything, or just hear a sound? What end and side?

Tightening swaybar endlinks- insert the short end of a 7?mm allen wrench in the hex shaped hole in the endlink bolt. For more leverage, insert the long end of the allen wrench in a 7mm socket attached to a socket driver. tighten the endlink nut with a wrench.

Glad Tokico took car of your strut. Mine have 80k on them and still seem healthy.

Well...I just noticed that my driver's side transmission mount (just in front and below the battery) is blown out and completely torn. I think that is probably adding some stress to the passenger side. I can feel it just a little in the steering wheel, and the main noise is definitely coming from the passenger side.

Replacing the trans mount tonight. Going to mess with the sway bar end link again right now.

Those things are awful, when I switched back to the stock mounts I noticed a huge difference. I am still getting used to the manual so when I am not right on with my shift I can feel the motor move haha

I can definitely feel the clunk when I take off and that is coming from the driver's side. I know that is the mount. I'm hoping that will help with some of the stress I can hear coming from the passenger side.

I have messed around with that stupid end link like 5 times. I'm going to take it off, flip it upside down and put it back on and see if that will get it...

Could be that the actual end link is just worn out, don't know if that can happen but that might explain why my clunk stopped after I got new endlinks....

^ it's possible. First things first...replacing the right side motor mount today. Hopefully that stops my noises. The end links are brand new, so I know it's not those. I did re-tighten the end link just in case.

Today, I replaced the right motor mount. It didn't fix the problem. I just said F it, and ordered another right front end link. Maybe I got a bad part or something. Since all my mounts are new now, I went ahead and ordered the rear mount as well...

If this thing still makes noise, I am going to drive it off of a cliff! LOL! j/k, but it might come up for sale!

^ excellent idea! LOL! That is always a possiblity. I'll drive this one till it dies, then probably do something like that. The beautiful part of my P5 is that there is no payment or large costs associated with it at this time.

I have a good feeling about the ball joints. Got an appointment at Mazda on 9/5/11 to get the control arms replaced. That WILL fix this F'ing thing...

If not, you may come across a YouTube video of me driving this thing off of a cliff! LOL!

Woooohooooo!!! Mazda fixed it this morning. Now I will be motivated to finish the body work and get my flaps on.

It ended up being a loose lower control arm. When they replaced the bushings, they didn't tighten the rear bolt of the passenger side control arm down all the way. It's as good as new now!!

Not a dime! That was their fault. They took it apart and didn't put it back together properly.

They also replaced my sway bar bushing for free. I feel I got my money's worth with them at this point.

So, I found a guy who's going to finish up my body work. Also going to repaint my bumpers and side skirts for $500! Going in next Friday!

Hells yeah!
