premacy smokes from cold

Hello. Has anyone any bright ideas how to control the smoke which gushes from a premacy from cold. Its fine soon after warm up but repeats the trick if left for a couple of hours.
Its a 2001 model with 100000 on the clock and the valve stem oil seals were recently replaced to no effect.
Thanks for your attention.

What color is the smoke? What engine do you have? What does the smoke smell like?

If you don't seem to be burning much oil, I'd say it sounds like valve stem seals or piston rings. With 100K on the engine, that's not too bad. Check your PCV system for oil in the hose that runs to the intake manifold - Usually indicates blow by (rings). You could DIY in the valve stem seals. I'm not too sure what DIY instructions are out there specific to a 1.6L, but you could try a Google on it.

Your car is 10 years old, with only 100,000 miles on it. Those would be tough miles.

premacy smokes

hi
Thanks for the help. The pcv pipe shows a lot of pressure from the crankcase.
Probably worn pistons or rings You are certainly right about tough miles as it never goes far enough to warm up sufficiently.
Freddie Mercury said it; Another one bites the dust. Cheers ian
