I finally get back half of my driving pleasure from this car and get back the better gas mileage with the manual mode.
It was quite easy. Just 6 Phillips screws, 4 nuts, and 3 connectors. I did it in way less than an hour even I was taking my time. It is so straightforward even a caveman could do it.(evil)
The replacement part:
And I found some McDonald's French fries my mom dropped under my e-brake handle like 6 or 7 years ago:
See, these stuff never go bad. Now you know what food to stack up with when the whole Yellowstone erupt.
And you wonder why our interiors are so noisy. There is absolutely no sound insulation materials under the transmission control unit.
I am just glad this problem is finally fixed. The Mazda dealer I went to charged me over hundred for a check up but didn't even look at this part and just went on telling me it was one of the AT solenoids that was causing the problem and asking for $600 to fix it.(gun)
And I took the chance to install my on-board DVR too:
