Okay,,here's the deal: I know, I may be the oldest MAZDASPEED owner here.....

I'm not trying to make any racist or insulting comments, so if my next sentence offends you, I'm sorry...

It's my impression that some of the people who post with poor spelling or grammar are trying to use English as a second language.
If this is true, that's a bit of an excuse, but not a complete excuse.

Most of the ESL people I've worked with have more proper written English than most native speakers. Things may come out sounding a bit funny but it is more technically correct.

I also think a lot of people don't know you can edit a post. I've seen follow up posts to posts apologizing for mistakes almost immediately after their first post.

I'm not one to nit pick over a typo or two here or there. I'm pretty fluent in typo from IRC and IM. Some of those mistakes were so bad, though, that I did not know what they were trying to say.

The h@x0r 5p33k crap on the other hand is just plain annoying to read and makes me not take you seriously. I code all day and I don't write that crap.

Your thoughts about that sound really similar to mine...
I sit here all damn day too, writing in all sorts of different languages, I don't like to sit there and try and decipher something that is supposed to be easy to read.

Hell, I still can't figure out all the Shizzle speak stuff out either... Fo' Shizzle? Drizzle on my Nizzle cause I stepped in some Whizzle???? Blah.

Screw it, I am too damn old and lazy to try and communicate with stupid s*** like that. I prefer a mixture of grunting and cussing most of the time now... it works pretty well.

there, they're, their, your you're...know the difference or dont post. by the way, what are the demintions on the mazdaspeed protege bumber?

I have to ask, did you really spell that incorrectly or was it a joke. It is kind of funny that you are chiming in on a thread that is complaining about improperly spelled words and you spell one wrong yourself, lol. It's funny. I don't take it too seriously as long as a sentence flows in a manner of which I can understand. I will admit though, some of these folks are really out there. Anyway, some of the things that I do that I don't consider that messed up:

kinda = kind of
prolly= probably
lemme = let me (i.e. lemme know)

There are many others too. I think in general, the internet and chat rooms has a lot to do with the people typing with bad grammer and improper punctuation, etc... because we all want things to happen fast. Anyway, that is my .02.

it doesn't really make sense to me either...

it was the first message of a new thread on protegeclub... caused quite a bit of head scratching... :p

I noticed some grammical errors in lots of posts. Even by those who complain about other people. Although, I am not an English major.

I couldn't agree more. We're all here to communicate, so why not make it as easy to understand one another as possible?

What you post and the way you post it is the only way people get an impression of you when you're online. I can only assume that since you don't have to meet face to face the impression you give doesn't really matter.

While I'm at it here are a few other things that piss me off;

Huge signatures.
If I'm interested in all the s*** you've done to you car I'll check your profile. Don't waste precious bandwidth with a list of every car you've ever owned, every mod on you've ever done and every mod you intend to do. It's not relevant to every post you make so don't make me wade through it every time you post! If you slap a huge pic of you car in your sig you deserve a dick punch.

Abuse of Smilies or Emoticons.
Use them to show emotion to help people understand your tone.
For example, if you're being sarcastic use this guy ;)
Confused use this guy :confused:
If you use more than 3 emoticons in a single post go get some lithium to sort yourself out, you're feeling too many emotions at once.

Neglect of the search function.
Use the search or get a dick punch. Your call.

Ahhh, that feels better.
