Hi,

I have an oil leak coming from the passenger's side of the engine near the timing cover. I had originally thought the leak was from the crank shaft seal (which was replaced with the timing belt), but upon further inspection while doing an oil change, it appears to be coming from higher up. It is mostly on the back side of the block along the timing cover. It's difficult to tell how high up it starts.

Is there a common leak something in this area that is common to leak?

Thanks for any help.

It could be your valve cover gasket leaking.

Was silicon used in the corner notches of the gasket when it was installed ??

Yes, I used a sealant in the corners. I will give that area a closer look, but I though the leak was coming from lower than the valve cover.
