I posted a question on the other forum about this but figured I'd reiterate it on a more appropriate forum.
I just got an aftermarket radio installed (Eclipse 5442) via a Best Kits dash kit. I took it back to the installer once because the Vent knob wire was out of whack and I heard RCA plugs clunking around behind the dash pocket. Welllll, when I got it back the knobs were fixed but the dash kit was noiser than ever. It seems the bottom part of the kit (where the pocket is mounted) makes a clunking noise over sharper bumps...which, needless to say, is annoying as H**L! So I've been driving around without the radio on, almost obsesivly trying to find the route of this noise. I've found that pushing on the bottom of the kit, around the pocket, it has a little bit of play. In other words I can push it in like 1/8". If I hold it tight it doesn't clunk. Is there a reason why the bottom of the kit isn't snapped or screwed flush with the dash opening? Or do kits just "slide" in? (I'm a newb, can't ya tell?) Also could the position the headuinit is iso mounted affect the angle of the bottom of the dash kit kinda like a lever. If that makes any sense... lol
I'm just making sure if/when I bring it back and they say they can't do anything about it that I'll have a leg to stand on to demand it's fixed. And it's a problem with their mounting and not the kit itself.
Any and all info will greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
