basically we outgrew it 
bought our 2009 Mazda5 Sport manual at the end of '09, last manual available within a reasonable distance. kids were 9, 7 and 1.
well, now they are 13, 11 and 5 obviously, and we just don't have the room to even do grocery shopping together, much less a day trip. we have borrowed a roof box in the past but its really just a compromise (not going to put it on for a shopping trip)
found a deal on a '12 CX-9 Touring for less than $18 so we pulled the trigger.
