No more KeithFM?

Keith ole buddy ole pal, you still out there? It seems this forum has slowed a bit lately, and I've noticed you haven't been here in awhile. Any updates on the FM kit? Hope to hear from you! :D.

Chris

The whole FM crew has been super busy doing all kinds of stuff. Between the racecar and a few other projects, they've just been super busy.

They are still working on everything to be sure though.

Cool. I just wish this forum wasn't so quiet lately. It is a good thing to start off to in the morning when I waltz in to work. :D

Hey 1st MP3, let me know if you guys find out the idle probem. I have the exact same problem as you to the letter. I've done everything that you did to try and find out the problem but it still persist. I feel your pain!!!

You have the coolest wife in histroy, tell her she awsome!

Any ways I have my car going into the dealer this thursday. I trust the service manager completely, only problem is it isn't a Mazda dealer. The ones near me are garbage!

Anyways he and several of his techs are former Mzda techs and he actualy has a protege doing the same thing so he is personaly interested to find the issue.
Hopefully we'll know by Friday!
I will keep you posted!

Hey, yeah. I'm alive. Sorry, but as Chris said we're busy. Plus I was away for pretty much all of December - testing the race car in CA, visiting family in Ontario and spending New Years off-roading in Moab. Right now we're stripping all the wiring out of the race Miata to get ready for a test session in two weeks, we're working on a show car for Mazda and we just got invited to a fairly major competition. Whew.

Don't worry, though. We're working on the Proteges. Just today it got an auxiliary fuel pump and some suspension work. We'll be testing it tomorrow if all goes to plan. I'm hoping to bring it to the racetrack next week to, ahem, test :)

Keith

Gee Kieth, it's a rough job but somrone has to do it. It does bring to mind a question. That is how do you do your testing? What do you look for in the changes.

How do we do our testing? Well, that depends on what we're testing. If it's engine related, we've got our dyno. It's equipped with a wideband O2 sensor so we can get accurate air/fuel numbers. It's also got microphones that can attach all over the car to listen for detonation and/or drivetrain noise. On top of that we've got OBD-II readers that output information from the ECU. If there's a specific parameter we want to watch (such as fuel pressure) we'll install a specific gauge for it.

For suspension testing, it's more objective. We run the car over various surfaces and on a wide variety of roads, judging ride quality and handling.

And you get paid to do this? damn, can I send you my resume? :)

I haven't been over the hill lately to visit. I want to though, I really want a smooth dyno run.
