No headlight/key in ignition warning buzzer

Hi all,

I just bought an '02 P5 and I'm loving it so far, but I've noticed that there's no warning buzzer to indicate if I've left my headlights on/keys in the ignition. I checked the fuse box and there doesn't appear to be a missing fuse. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I'll check that, thanks. The weird thing is that there's a chime when I first turn on the ignition. I wonder if that chime and the other types are separately wired?

I figured it out. It's the switch at the base of the front door frame. I figured it out when I had the car off waiting for my g/f, she opened the passenger door and the warning chime went off. Should be an easy enough fix, I hope. :)

So did you ever figure it out? I'm in the same situation and since that button in the door frame isn't responding, I presume I can't program a second key fob since it requires that button. I unscrewed it and it looked ok as far out as I could pull it. Did you just have to wire in a replacement? Other ideas? Presume I need to take apart the door panel to check on the rest of the wiring.

You might have to. I know one of mine is twitchy and another one is broken altogether, so it could be just like mine and have a loose part in there. Not necessarily wiring, but one of the springs or bits could be loose in there. I figured I wouldn't worry about mine, since I've made it a habit of driving with my lights on anyways so I don't really need it.

Btw, there will still be a chime on startup is your seatbelt isn't buckled, but if you have your seatbelt on already it won't make a noise.

Was going to try swapping the passenger side one over to the driver's so I can at least program the remote, not so worried about the chimes, but not seeing how the connector comes off of the sensor. 9-18-24 of the service manual. Afraid to force it or lose the wire.

Managed to get it, may have forced it the wrong way since it came apart in different places on each side...but managed to get them back together again and now driver's side works. :)
