2010 Mazda 5 Grand Touring
My wife and I picked up a 2010 Mazda5 Grand Touring this last weekend. As with any other vehicle I've owned, I just had to find a good, relevant car forum to join. It's still under the factory warranty, but I like to do as much service work as I can.

I am going to post in the electronics section, but I had some questions about adding the factory nav unit in a non-nav equipped car. If any of you have an experience with this or know of any differences in the vehicle wiring loom related to the factory radio options, I'd love to have your input in the thread I start over here:

Anyway, thanks for putting together what looks like a great car forum. I hope to contribute to it in a meaningful way very soon.

Regards,
Justin

Welcome aboard Justin. I have to throw in my opinion, why not just buy a nice Garmin or TomTom for a few hundred dollars? I, like many people, tend to shy away from outdated built in navigation units. I read recently that sometimes the navi equipped trim levels are worth less than the non-navi equipped because people don't want them.

Plus, it will allow the flexibility of taking it with you while you walk, or putting it in a rental car on a trip somewhere.

Welcome. I also suggest avoiding factory Nav. It cost too much money and effort. Aftermarket units are much more capable and will come complete. Another BIG disadvantage is factory mav maps can get expensive to upgrade!...

welcome! As others have said already, skip the factory unit and go aftermarket. Any of the crowd of good double DIN head units available from Kenwood, Pioneer, and Alpine will more than fit the bill. You also then have the option of enabling video on the fly for the little ones (if you have them) or yourself (if you don't) LOL
