New MSP Short-Ram Intake

I met Insidious & the owner of Billet Design in person when I was down at the Tower Shops meet last weekend. They are nowhere as big as Injen, so it takes them longer to do all of this work from scratch. They also explained that they had other projects that had higher priority, but now they are supposed to be working on our stuff. I think I remember hearing that they are going to also try to make hard pipes & a turbo back.
Anyway, AEM is also making a SRI, so don't think that your only option is a CAI. Several people have run great times or good dyno #s with just a K&N drop-in. If you're so impatient that you can't wait for a SRI & you think that a CAI is a better alternative, go ahead & buy one.

i guess u forgot all the posts i left on this thread anway im interested, i just wanna know before i pull out the phone book and get a welding shop to fab me one......keep up posted, and tell them to make a 3in turbo back please!!!!!!

If I remember correctly, they were going to make a 3" turbo back with an HKS Carbon Ti muffler (like Insidious has) & mandrel bent hard pipes (instead of the welded kind sold by everyone on here).
So are these for sale? I would purchase one if they are a good deal. I am waiting on the AEM Cold air intake. If this is a good enough bargain, I would be interested. Is this just a short ram, or is it a cold air style, does it fit in the fender opening, under the coolant resevoir? I am just looking for some better air flow, and better sound. I don't want to deal with heat soak though, my car runs a bit hot, and I live in SoCal. Let me know, I want an intake!!

Please read the thread if you want the details...it's a SRI (pic on the 1st page). This will have better flow than any CAI, but I don't know why you care about the sound.

Incase it's hard to see, the list of Billet Design project cars includes: Koenigsegg CC, Twin Turbo Koenig Ferrari, Porsche 911 turbo, Evolution 6 TME, Evolution 8, Supercharged Steeda Mustang, Skyline R33 GTR.... and... Mazdaspeed Protege baby.

Keep us up to date insidious...looks like AEM is ditching the SRI project for CAI

Yeah, where is this SRI?
guys ... you don't want the short ram. You want cold air all the way.
The turbo will heat up the air but only so much .... with the cai , you start with a colder charge. Say the turbo heats up the air 50 degrees, and the short ram give you a 100 degree air charge. You end up with the 150 after the turbo. now with the CAi say you have 50 going in and the turbo heats it another 50, your att 100.
These are totally made up numbers to illistrate (sp) a point. starting out colder is always better.

Nice color! here we go again with SRI vs CAI...turbo cars have innercoolers to cool the air given off from the turbo. Look in any high performance turbo cars and you wont find a CAI...trust me. Does the Skyline RB26DET have a CAI? Does a FD TT have a CAI? Does a Supra 2JZ-GTE have a CAI? I thought I heard someone (maybe AEM tech?) say that airflow is more important then temp...but he says for our bad stock Innercooler that a CAI might be the better choice. I do think the Injen CAI is better then stock...if you want bang for your buck get K&N drop filter.

Note: CAS is CAI and SRS is SRI. Bends are a turbo's worst enemy. That why I try my best to stay away from CAI or the stock intake.

Im pretty sure if you up the boost or throw in a IC, the SRI will be better. Want colder air? Add a innercooler spray.
