New member, Picking up my P5 today

New owner :)(in a couple hours). My Dealer Traded for:

P5 Laser Blue Mica
5 speed
Leather
Moonroof/Changer pkg
ABS/Airbags package
factory subwoofer
roof rack
wheel locks
cargo net
rear bumper guard
moonroof wind deflector (now THIS has GOTTA go!)

Coming off a 2000 VW Beetle GLX 1.8t turbo/5sp (lease is up)

for the "what'd ya pay thread," paying $100 over invoice:
$17,499 or so. vin is (I believe) xxx174432, so it's a relatively recent one.
From what I've been told, under 60-days on the lot. Found it at
City Place Mazda in W. Palm Beach, FL and had my guy at Ocean Mazda in Miami dealer trade for it.

BTW, if anyone needs anything with Ocean Mazda, lemme know. I know the Sales Manager VERY well (Harold), and this will make the 5th car I've bought from him since 1998.

For those needing stereo gear, I've got a few high-end pieces available from my bug. Check out the newbeetle.org "audio" forums. Briefly:

(1) Phoenix Gold ZX350 and (1) ZX450 amp

(1)Phoenix Gold 1fd power cap

(2) JL Audio 10W6-6 10" subs (hardcore!) in a custom fiberglass spare-tire-replacing bandpass enclosure, plexiglass covered.

(1) Pioneer Premier DEX-P1R CD/Receiver head unit - extremely bad-ass! Includes box/manual/remote/steering wheel remote/Auto-Equalization microphone.

(these I might keep for the P5):
(1) pair MB Quart coaxial-separates
(1) pair MB Quart Mid drivers (for rear)

Welcome to the club!
Sound like a nice audio set-up.:)
Hey sharkonwheels, If you plan on keeping the racks on, and you have a moonroof, maybe the wind deflector is a good thing. It'll really cut down on the wind-noise on the freeway. Those stock racks just sing when you get above 65 mph.

I was actually gonna yank the racks off, and only use 'em when I need 'em - the roof rack is a factory-only option, so i figured I'd get it, and then take 'em off and put the rail covers on.

I dunno - the wind deflector is kinda' big and ugly-ish for my tastes.

Yeah baby - I'm freaking PSYCHED!

Twas quite a hunt! It was the *ONLY* car with that EXACT configuration that I wanted! (major options, not wheel locks and junk.)

Within 500 miles (searching MazdaUSA Inventory Search) it was THE ONLY Laser Mica Blue 5-speed, leather, moonroof/changer,ABS/airbags, roof rack, with a factory sub. (subs became free with VIN's above around xxx140000)

hey sharkonwheels and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Was that $17,499 out the door? If it is, that is one hell of a deal. I live just a few short miles from Ocean Mazda. Do you have a hook-up there for parts?

Also, don't forget to check out the Floridian Meet thread in the Car Meets section.

GOt the baby home - NIIIICE ride!

P5Alive: Actually, 17.7K + taxes. Dealer trade cost a little, and I diidn't want him eating all the trade+tow fees, so i chipped in as well.

Parts, I suppose he MIGHT be able to help - He's the sales manager for Ocean Mazda.

2003 Laser Mica Blue P5 - 42 miles on the odometer now!

Congratulations! I'm sure you are out and about enjoying it. (thumb)

I need to get some updated pix, but I have a Midnight Blue Pro5. It was only after I bought the midnight blue when the Laser Blue was added to the Pro5 color lineup. doh!

I would KILL for that color! :D

Just got home - I'll have pics tomorrow!

Miss the stereo though - GOTTA do something about this sub-1000-watts stereo.

Also, even though the P5 is 100lbs less or so, I miss that power I had in the bug - chipped, intake'd, and piped! 215HP/230ft-lb on a 2880lb car is nice!

Not shabby, though. I figure a pipe and intake will help a little. Definitely needs a short-shifter, no doubt. Feels like rowing a canoe!

Heh - no...actually, I was shopping for mods before I even picked the color!!!

See, I *KNOW* the sales mgr there, so he gave me a demo P5 for the weekend, last week. This is my 4th or 5th car I've bought from him since 1997 (2 beetles, an Acura, a Jetta, and now the P5. He was Sales Mgr at Esserman VW/Acura in Miami before Ocean Mazda)He loaned me a Silver with the Sport AT. I had already test driven a stick, and knew they needed a little boost
