Mazda5
Good evening from Southern France! Yes, with our local wine and breathing Mediterranean air.. life is good!
I have been driving now for over 43 years and have never owned a Mazda.. until now. Well Tuesday to be precise. It is a Mazda5, 2.0 Turbo Diesel, Elegance, 2007 model with just over 100,000 kms on the clock. In exceptional condition both inside and out. I went for it because it is Japan built, looks fairly bullet proof (compared to the rather fragile looking French competition) and seems very practical.
I always like to join the forums of cars (and bikes) I drive so I can get a practical view of what ownership is like, and hopefully make some virtual friends on the way!.
I am 60 yrs old, English, work as a Real Estate agent locally, drive a Peugeot 206, Citroen Xsara and an Aprilia SL1000 motorcycle. Many years in the computer industry made me love technology, I am also a good cook and love wine.
Now, my question to you guys... have I made a wise choice with the Mazda5 and what should I look for during my period of ownership?

Welcome! Most of us are in the US so we're not too familiar with the diesel motor. It's a fairly trouble free car, just look out for rust along the wheel wells if your area salts the road a lot. The rear struts are a weak spot as well.

Otherwise its a very simple car that shares a lot of main components with the Mazda 3.

Welcome, Falcomille!

At 100K, I'd look at your tranny fluid and make sure it's nice and pink with no burn smell.

Check your filters of course.
