New 5 owner, a couple of questions

Greetings, all! After agonizing over practical and frugal vehicle choices (with a degree of fun) I kept coming back to the 5 and so far so good. Mazda has packed a lot into this package and since I wanted a manual I'm in a Sport, which, fortunately, is also the least expensive model.

Prior to buying the 5 I did the usual forum searches and noticed that some early 5s had problems with engine mounts. I notice that my '09 has a fair amount of vibration at idle as well as at speed. Normal?

That leads me to the tires: though I've found little praise for the Toyos, has anyone ever actually had a defective tire or tires? I'll have them all checked for proper balance but the vibration isn't just in the steering wheel, it's present in the floor, seat and pedals.

I just purchased a used 2008 with 20,000 miles. It has three of the original Toyo tires; they seem fine. There is no vibration and no excessive tread wear as far as I can see. I don't know why the other left rear tire was replaced; it appears fine, too.

I have an 07 GT with none of the problems listed. I do however know a bit about Motor Mounts. If they had a TSB and were replacing them then they were going to a stiffer mount. That being the case then it may take a while for it to break in. If you dont notice any improvement or it is just not a normal (with in reason) vibration than there is something else at work here. I know a lot of people complain about alignments with new Mazdas, you could have that checked as well. Though not sure if that would add to another problem causing vibration but you should have them check it all if you are going to take it in.

Thanks for the replies-- I'll sort this out, I have less than 70 miles on my 5 at this point. Vibration issues can drive you nuts...
