2003 Mazdaspeed Protege
Hey all,
I'm having some real trouble finding a good setup for an hid conversion and led projection headlights. Nothing seems to specify whether it will fit on my '03 Mazdaspeed Protege. Does anybody know of or even have a setup like this for a 2003 Mazda Protege? I think its actually all 01-03 Mazda Protege's. I want to get an hid projection headlight setup. Just don't wanna spend a ton only to find out either the headlight is wrong or projectors are wrong for hid conversion etc. PLEASE HELP!

As far as I know projector headlights for the map are not on the market, that's something you'll have to DIY. Hid's are easy to find just type hid conversion for 03 protege and just google it and hit the shopping tab, you'll find what u need

This link contains EVERYTHING you need to do your own retrofit to the lights you have currently

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?products_id=227

the hardest part is removing the headlights from your car and then baking them apart in the oven (i've been successful at 150-200 degrees in the oven for 10-20 minutes) your oven may vary

once the lights are apart, you can either paint everything or leave it reflective

kit looks great when finished

Thanks, one more question.

First off thanks this link is excellent. One question however, I know my current headlight bulb size is H4, I'm wondering how and why the H1's are in this kit. Or was this link for the general product and these are the default features and not changed to fit my '03 Mazdaspeed? I don't doubt you I'm just looking for some education. This is my first time playing with aftermarket headlights so the more I understand before I dig in the better! Thanks again!

The projectors take H1 HID bulbs. They fit into your stock H4 housing by a lock nut. Your H4 bulbs will not fit the projector.

They are probably the best bang for your buck in terms of a retrofit. Performance is on par if not better than many OEM HID projectors, and it's a bixenon projector meaning (if you wire it up...easy to do) a solenoid flips the cutoff shield down for your high beams.

Please avoid Ebay or any other projectors available; use either Mini Morimotos or an OEM HID projector setup. Here's one I did for my friend's MSP

Huuuuuuuge difference in light output compared to the stock headlights. Should take around 2-4 hours to install/aim perfectly.

That's where i've seen that Civic! In a few pics that super1chow posted a while back.
As for the retrofits, if you have never done it there is no way you can pull the headlights apart, install the projectors and aim them, then reassemble the lights in 2-4 hours. Not to mention people paint the housings etc so it's definitely an all day job but it's worth it. I plan on a $50 DDM kit because I don't enjoy baking my headlights and pulling them apart and I don't think my headlights could handle another dis-assembly.
