In town, the car beeps three times when approaching a red-light camera intersection according to the upper left on the Nav screen. The image should tell you whether its a red-light camera or a permanent speed trap. It will also give the distance to the object.
By the way, it doesn't beep at you when an officer sets up on the side of the road, so be careful!
There's also a specific chime if your tomtom recognizes there is a parking lot near the destination that you set. Apparently you can then select this so navigation is set to the parking lot. Could not find it in the manual but it is somewhere in the menus of the system.
