So,
Is this an install someone without much experience could do? I'm trying to learn things, so I'm looking for projects that are good starter projects.
I've done basic stuff like changing out a battery, changing out a thermometer (on an 83 Chrysler New Yorker V8 - rofl - you could practically climb into the hood with the engine) and replacing some hoses, etc.

Well, I just picked up my RM Racing intake today. I didn't get the cold air option yet, but they said I can add it on later.
Anyone have any advice for me before I set out to install it? Is it hard to get the stock one out of there? Are there any parts that are tricky to get out?

It's fairly simple but remember to Take off the MAF off of the stock airbox...Also...the 02 sensor of the Stock air box...Also...remember to tighten all clamps...and Reset your ecu by unplugging the NEGATIVE on the battery ...Good Luck...

you ALWAYS disconnect the GROUND...OR NEGITIVE terminal of the battery first.....I hope you read this before you went out to do the install......if you didn't....and you did as above....I hope your computer is all okay after you hook it back up.....if it is...you dodged a big bullet!!!
pay attention to the way the MAF is installed....there is an inlet and an outlet.....make sure you put it back in correctly.....

I have not done it yet. Thanks for the warning! I happened to know that already, but I'm sure anyone else reading this who doesn't know that will benefit from that piece of information.

its so easy i did it twice! once on CaptainKRM's P5, then second time when he gave it to me. i installed it at 2 am on a cold october morning and had a flashlight that barely worked, with sockets i couldnt find...... dont ask...

Interestingly enough, the instructions that come with the intake read,
"VERY IMPORTANT... Positive cable on the vehicle battery must be removed prior to installation in order to restart the ECU learn cycle."
A couple of other steps I don't get:
"Using one of the supplied zip ties secure the solenoid group that was removed from the factory flex hose to the hard line on the lower side of the brake master cylinder."
(Eh? Solenoid group? Where's the brake master cylinder?)

well guess what.....THEIR INSTRUCTIONS SUCK!! if you read them complete...they also tell you to REMOVE YOUR FRONT BUMPER to put the filter on....oh come on....just how dumb is that....
if you want MUCH better instructions on how to install the injen intake...go to Protege5online.com and into the TECH section....there are much better instructions there....
