I had tons of coolant stank coming from the engine bay. If you look at the overflow hose you won't see anything in the general area (splash or any clues of splash). It's just heating up and pushes the smell out of the hose. You will notice it alot early on but it will go away after 3-4,000 Miles (you do the metric conversion if necessary)

I still got the coolant smell as well. Got my car for almost 2 1/2 months and got 2500 kms on it.
I had a leak that was fixed but it still smells.

Had a few people with mp3's ask for my "honest" opinion. So there it is.

Question. When you got your speeds, did you smell anything? Coolant smells? I'm wondering if mine is leaking as well, or if they just filled it up too high.

Nope, absolutely nothing with the exception of the nice new car smell. No leaks so far.

I just came back from a Mazda dealership here in Wpg. that has a Titanium sitting in the showroom. Nice. The new MazdaSpeed shifter is quiet noticebly fatter than the 2003 Sparco.

It's a really nice car; too bad there's no fogs. The spoiler is nicer looking than I thought too.

So...I peered back at my Orange baby through the window while looking at the titanium. Although Silver is indeed my favorite colour on ANY car (and yes this is grey when not in the sun), I still think the Orange loudness sticks out way more. No second thoughts to the colour I chose.

....AND YES THE ALARM IS WAAAY TO SENSITIVE. Even on the least sensitive postition, planes, loud cars (actually not even that loud) set it off.

Check it closely. Many of us had (have) the coolant leak. It's the fitting to the left of the bov. I knew I kept smelling coolant when I would bring my car into the garage. And; it I was leaking. Ever so slightly; but you could see the buildup of green yucky stuff (pukey).

My Head unit also seems to have this screw up like the last speed brought into town, where it gets stuck when rotating, and all you can do it reset it and hope for the best.

Are you sure that it is broken? From the factory there is a delay set on the faceplate rotation. It should rotate half way, then pause. This is to let you remove the faceplate. If you wait a couple of seconds, then it should flip the rest of the way. You can change the delay time on the head unit menus or even set it to 0 like I did.

Of course if you have waited and it never flipped then you are right and it is broken.

Would you believe that my new car has a nail in the damn tire. Only 110 kms on it! No leak though....at least non that I can see. Haven't even signed for the car yet either. Noticed it when I washed it tonight.

Well written. I haven't read a comparison review ever and i think you did a good job. You made me think of the day when i took delivery of my car.

I remember after i took delivery i took it onto the highway because that was the only way i was going home. As soon as i got home i could easily smell the 'breaking in' smell. Maybe it was coolant, i'm not sure. But either way, it had a smell. I checked my coolant for leaks but it never showed any signs of it. So i'm sure it had nothing to do with it. The was at the time was just too darn new to be driven at 100km/h. Even though i tried to keep the revs down.

You being a Mp3/MSP freak, i thought you would purchase this car. But i understand you want a new car every 2 years or so. I'm sure it's very difficult for you to give up your Mp3. You are probably very attacted to it, even though you have the new '03.5 now. 2 years of owning a car is a short period, and with the amount of time you have with it is limited. Maybe you might like the '03.5 enough that you will consider purchasing after the lease is near up.

There's something about your review that i didn't quite understand. Under the 'exhuast' section, you stated that the Mp3 has a nice growl when driven on the highway, but when you compare with the '03 MS, the turbo complety muffles it. Then you said that the '03.5 is has a nice growl but not as loud as the '03. They are both Racing Beat mufflers from what i understand just with different tips. Why would the '03.5 be even slightly louder?

If i were a teacher, you'd get A+ for this review. Just a few spelling errors, but it's good nonetheless.

Exaust note is different on the 2003.5. At least the orange one that is here is a little quieter. Not much, but it is.

To you guys with the '03.5's...Your rims are gunmetal/opal/whatever...does the center cap match the rim, or is it silver like the '03 MSP color rims??? I saw a yellow MSP and it had silver center caps which I thought threw it off a little...I mean, I was only talking to the guy for about 10mins., and I noticed it.

The paint in the sun shines a bright silver. Very nice

I got the MP3 back now too. Damn, what a difference. I take back what I said about the clutch though, it is stiffer in the 2003.5, but not much.

And the MP3 stereo defintely sounds better. I think the sub in the 2003.5 just ruins the sound. Replace the sub (which I'm doing) and I think it'll be fine.

Hey Just took a good look at some pics of the seats on the mazda web site. Are they really that frigen different, I mean it looks like it dosen't have the heavy duty jersy mesh centers on the seats. WTF!
Newf, could you please take some pics of your seats nice and close so I can see the real difference. (I am just to damn lazy to drive to my dealer to look for my self)lol Thanks!!!
