I have my MSP wheels. Picked up a set of 215/50/17 tires for free. Put them on a 2001 Protege ES. It is looking really tight fitment wise. Anyone done this before?
the stock tires for MSP wheels should be 215/45/17. by putting those tires on with a 50 aspect ratio, you increased the size of your sidewall by .4" so it's going to fill the wheel well more and also the car is going to sit higher.
My MSP is lowered but my 01 protege is not. Rear tires rub alittle. Took them off for now. Im thinking maybe a spacer would fix this but Ive never dealt with wheel spacers and my knowledge in that area isnt the best. Any suggestions?
I got theese 215/50/17 tires for free and mounted and balanced them myself so Id like to be able to keep theese and make it work if possible
yeah the rears fit tight on proteges so the lip on the fender will rub. get a fender roller and use a heat gun to soften the paint so it doesn't crack. don't leave the heat gun in one spot too long to ensure you don't damage the paint and also that the entire edge of the fender stays heated up. do it little by little until the lip is rolled up flat. it'll take some time to do it right.
