Msp engine will it bolt on to any other car?

I am trying to do some research if the Msp engine will bolt on to any other car (yes a probe). I heard from a few people that it will but they did not give me enough info as like what year and so on. How will i find out if the mazdaspeed protege turbo engine will fit another car?

I would think that the motor would fit in the FS equipped 4 cylinder probes fairly well. I've seen FS-ZE motors swapped into probes, so I would assume that the MSP motor would fit pretty easily too. The one problem you might run into is the ECU. I'm not sure how compatible it will be with the rest of the Ford electrical system. You may need some type of stand alone engine management. I'm sure others will chime in on this topic.

As I sometimes refer to them ..... the Anal Probe. Naw, probes are cool as long as you got a Mazda motor under the hood.

Anal Probe :wtf: i didn't come here to flame anyone but you gotta have some respect for probes as i have respect for all mazdas. There is a few guys in Probetalk.com running low numbers in the 1/4. All probes besides the 1st gen v6 have mazda engines on them. Thank's for the info guys i was looking into getting a DOHC for my 1st gen probe and since it is a mazda engine i was just doing some research on the msp to see if it'll fit in it. But now i see it'll only fit the 2ng 4cyl probe so i guess i gotta go back to the drawing board and hope i find my j-spec engine. By the way anyone know of a GOOD Japanese engine importer? Oh incase you guys are wondering.. i'm not lost i'll be a future mazda6 owner soon.

probes are cool even if you dont, i dont know why kenetix said that. ur cool probeguy. thanks for not flaming back :)

corksport imports all sorts of JDM mazda engines, some of which will work in the Probe.

if you have access to a MSP motor..tell me where you live..so i can steal it from you..that motor is almost impossible to find

Anything 'can' be done - that's for sure. I'm speculating the basic bolt patterns would line up w/ the 2L probe Tranny...into a 1st gen? Figure custom motor mounts; you'd have to buy the MSP tranny/axles, etc, as well.

If you want a motorswap, don't waste your time w/ the MSP Engine. Find an FE3 DOHC engine. I know of guys running close to 500 WHEEL HP with those, in 1st gen Probes/ MX6s.

Figure, $5000-10000 for engine, install, turbo, stand alone, tuning, etc.

Of course Kenetix would tell you his car has close to 400whp... ;)

But I don't stretch the truth! :p

I know the FE3 is the way to go for my 1st gen and i know what i gotta do and i am aware of how much money this project takes. The only thing is the emission, people say that they'll give me hints on how to pass with a j-spec engine but a wanted to go all legit.

With an FE3 and stand-alone, you can tune it to run however you like :)

I'd wager it'd cost as much for the MSP engine, however, to swap into your car. It may be best to simply rebuild your engine, and apply liberal amounts of boost.

:)

Fe3 engines goes for like $800-$1200 and a standalone ecu is about $1200.
let's say i paid $1200 for the engine
another $1200 for the ecu
that's $2400 just for the engine and standalone ecu. also i have connections i could go with a small turbo if i wanna turbo it, i can keep it at around $2800-$3000 for everything i need. But i don't think i wanna turbo it i'll be happy with the 170hp that it'll give me. s*** now that i think of it it's not a bad project and it won't cost as much as i thought. Of course this would be a winter project for me.

If you just want 170hp, find an F2T to swap in. Much cheaper. But if your heart is set on a motor swap, remember:

it'll 'always' be more expensive than you think. Adding 30% to your numbers is a good start! :)

Good luck!

The f2t won't give me 170hp clean i mean i'd have to boost it up to like 12-16psi to get that much. Don't get me wrong i've been on a probe gt at 16 psi and i was getting whiplashed. It is an amazing engine although it had like 220+k miles on it and i think pushing over 180hp. This is my plan B if anything gets in my way of my Fe3 project.

i dont care whats under the hood , i could never drive a car called the probe, would you drive a car called "the ass tool" ?
call me a homo phobe i dont care

so if you where in the middle of nowhere and only a ford probe in sight you wouldn't drive it to get somewhere?
