Do you mean the integrated signal available on the 2013 5 or the 13 3? If it can be had on the newest 5 it should be a pretty straight-forward upgrade on your 2012. If you mean taking a part meant for the 3 the conversion to the 5 might be a little bit more difficult.
It is in all likelihood just a plug and play upgrade. You would need to source the mirrors and whatever wiring harness they should come with. Being a brand new thing they probably won't be available from the "cheap" sources like Rockauto, or even E-Bay just yet. I would check onlinemazdaparts.com first.
I would tend to believe that it is pre-wired. The question becomes where is the plug located that you would need. The wiring for the mirrors you have most likely terminates at the dash panel somewhere. Try pulling up a parts diagram on an online parts source to see how long the wiring is, that may help. If it is anything like the tweeters for the stereo the plug is already in place it just needs to be utilized with the more complex component.
Well. I bought the led mirror covers but the plug in my '12 did not have the wires for the lights like my Mazda 3 had. I didn't go so far as to pull the door panel off to see if there was anything behind it. Too bad. Cause my '12 3 was super simple. Plug and play.

Damn! I was thinking also of adding the new 2013 Mazda5 mirrors w/turn signals to my 2012. So is it safe to say that the 2012 model year is not Pre-wired to power up the turn signals on the mirror of the 2013's?
