sigh...I was backing out of a parking space carefully, more than halfway out and start to turn..CRUNCH..some woman hits me..she gets a scratch, I get a messed up bumper AND the cop says it's my fault..

I'm thinking I'll do just that..not willing to get an insurance point for getting that repaired...I pushed in the side where the inner liner of the fender meets this evening and it seemed to snap back in, but there is still a gap where the bumper meets the sheet metal, but it is secure.

You pay because America is all about equity and who has affected someone's wealth. The fact she's an idiot is not considered. Been there so many times. Sad to hear about it. Stupid people suck. She was probably on the phone or slapping a kid in the back seat.

It just takes that one @$$hole who doesn't want to stop to wait for a car who's already starting to pull out of a parking stall to finish pulling out. Even though the @$$hole technically has the right of way, courtesy says let that guy out of his parking stall!!!

Sucks but damage looks super minor!

I suggest you call up a paintless dent repair guy to massage it back out for you. If you don't apply pressure properly, you risk creasing it and cracking the paint.

I got it back out..used a baseball bat..there are a couple of small dimples but it's pretty much back the way it was..thanks for the paintless dent repair tip..completely forgot about that..

Bumper was doing its job - inverted itself to prevent any real damage. Lucky. If you get a chance to see how to get the top of the bumper back in place against the metal quarter panel, please post. Since I was stupid, I snapped something behind the bumper and have it sagging there as well.

I was lucky indeed. Nothing snapped or broke. When I popped the bumper back out that seemed to aid in helping get the bumper back up against the quarter panel. There's still a gap but you can the difference in the alignment of the top edge of the bumper with the pics below
I'll have a better pic to show soon.

hey looks good you know take one of those mister clean magic eraser to the paint that got on your car and it should come right off did it with mine and looks good

I hate to say it but typically i nthe absense of unbiased witnesses, the person backing usually carries the lions share of liability. Always best to back into a parking spot. Glad it was a fairly easy fix.
