Mazda5 Coilovers?

A lot of people are saying the Mazda 3 and Mazda 5 are similar. Is there a link out there that i can read how similar they are.

Thank you

any suspension piece that works for the Mazda3 will fit a Mazda5 of the same model year. example: coilovers designed for a 2012 Mazda3 will fit under a 2012 Mazda5. now, fitting and working correctly are two different concepts - the Mazda5 is heavier, and will require different spring rates and damping curves to provide a proper ride quality. but, if all you are after is a lower ride height, go for it.

The 200 pound difference between the 3 and 5 shouldnt make that big of a difference. Thats like having a passenger, or not on any given drive. You shouldnt have any issues running a set of Mazda3 coilovers. I mean think of how many mazda3 guys on coilovers have a basic stereo in there trunk. Which weighs more then the weight difference.

Thanks for the repley guys! I want coilovers because, with H&R springs, I think I have to replace the stock shocks after a few years. With coilovers, I don't have to worry about that, and in a long run, I think it's cheaper

Not necessarily. You have to have your shocks in the (rebuildable) coilovers rebuilt too, actually more often than a non-rebuildable one. The major advantage of a coilover is the flexibility to adjust your ride height, stiffness, rebound etc. Basically for racing application. For looks? maybe if you have excess $$$$ then yeah. A set of lowering springs and a plus 2 rim (given the right offset) upgrade would prolly be your best bet in a street application. G/L.

I have no idea if the Mazda 3's would fit although I did look at the 3's rear set at a parking lot LOL and it does look the same, tho' the only definite way to find out w/out actually testing the parts is to call the parts dept. of a Mazda dealership and ask them if the suspension parts (ID) numbers of the 3's and 5's are the same. If they're not busy they are usually helpful. But yeah if your factory shocks are less than 50k I would just use it for another 10k with an HR lowering springs and then change them later. Also a good installation practice. But if you're paying some one then maybe it would be best to change the shocks at that time. I personally have experience with Koni shocks so I would recommend their limited lifetime warranty. Accidental premature leaking can happen and they back their products well.

Yeah, true. How about mz3 koni or bilstein shocks/struts for mz5? Would they fit?
