Alright guys.

As you all probably know we've had a lot of bad weather lately (UK) with wind & rain...

I noticed this problem a few weeks ago, but then it disappeared, so I thought nothing of it...

I was driving along & pulled up to a junction, braked & I heard a very loud swoosh of water from the passenger door area. I originally thought the passenger door had managed to get a load of water in it. I pulled over, opened the passenger door, which didnt seem any heavier, I shook it a few times, but there was no swooshing sound... I drove on for a bit, come to another junction & braked a little harder, which I heard this loud swoosh of water again... I'm talking about 3-4 liters of water swooshing around in, what seems, the main frame of the car (only on the passenger side though).

We had a lot of rain last night, I got in my car this morning & noticed that behind the passenger seat (in the footwell) there was a very big puddle of water...

I drove to work, heard the swooshing of water every time I broke... Parked outside work for a few hours, its dry outside, so I went to check & I can see that the car has been leaking water from somewhere near the passenger door...

Here you can see the water leaking from somewhere...

I've had a look around to try and find where the water is coming in and the only place I can possible, althou I don't think the amount of water that seems to be in the frame could get through these holes, is from here:

The missing roof rack covers... I lost these when cleaning the outside of my car about 8 months ago... So it seems a bit strange that I havent had this problem before... but this seems like the only place I can see how the water is entering... But that throws another question of, if its getting in through here, why isnt the driver side effected as well?

I really dont want the car to start smelling of damp so I wanna try and solve this ASAP.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks!

I have the exact same problem, got in the car this morning (after a lot of rain the weekend) to find most of the contents of the rear passenger side footwell floating around

The symptom you've described about the sound of water moving around i've had for a while as well - never thought anything of it as couldnt find a problem, but sounded like a lot of water either way.

Anyone any ideas?

Hello

i believe this is since long time ago ,im experiencing the huge amount of water in the door too , but did anyone found how to get this water out!!! i really dunno what to do now , also if you knew where this water coming from please tell me , as the opening at the roof of the car in the picture has nothing to do with the door

thank you

Bringing this thread back up. Anyone else experience OP's symptoms and find a solution? I have water filling inside the pinchweld framing on the drivers side. If you open the back doors, there is a plastic grommet towards the bottom of the door jamb I can pluck out and actually see the standing water. Its starting to rust pretty good in there, must have been an issue for a long time. But lately its been collecting enough to get the load water swooshing around when braking and stopping. If I pry on the plastic side skirt to loosen up the clip going into the body, water drains out heavily until almost empty.

I can find ways to get the water out, but I'd like to know how the water is getting in? Any ideas on where water is draining from to fill this cavity everytime it rains?
