Maff's STS2 Build

Yeah, but once it gets through the liner it's going to start rubbing the sheet metal, which, again, is illegal.

Normal, psh. Don't be a lemming. How does the car feel? Use what other people are as a starting point if you don't want to figure out your own. You probably are too low if you are killing the bumpstops.

Maybe you should up your spring rates and reduce your sway bars. I don't know how you are rubbing so much, our SpecMiata is pretty low, but we do have much higher front spring rates.

Have you scaled your car? How are your cross weights. What wheel frequency are you getting with those spring rates?

No, haven't corner weighted it :(. You got a set of scales I can borrow? That and the alignment are really the only major things besides the rubbing issue I have left to do. I'm starting to think that setting the heights...higher...will probably fix things, as it never did this at ALL when I ran down in Mid GA w/ it higher.

Borrow, if you mean come over to the house and use them.

We are in the process of really cleaning the garage up and organizing it. But we can probably arrange something.

Seriously? If you wouldn't mind taking some time, I could stand to learn a few things. I know more or less what I'm shooting for, but I've never corner weighted anything before. If you you have the time before the next event, I'd really appreciate it.

what sheet metal it should be empty behind the liner. and i think the biggest problem you may be dealing with at this point is your wheel/tire size. I think your wheels are way to big for that car

I'm running the same tire size most of the miatas are. I know what you're saying, but it's either 205 50 15 or 225 40 16 (or 45 I cant' remember). And there's part of the unibody under there.

205 50 15 is correct.

Where exactly is the rubbing happening?
Inside? Outside? Top? Bottom? Front? Rear?

you cant run 13"-14" wheels?

Show me a good ST (140+ Treadwear) tire in good 13"-14" sizes.

BTW The T1-R is not a good ST tire.

+1 abt the tires. It's only rubbing in the front. It's clipping the tab for the fender liner, and rubbing all along the top of the liner (see the 1st pic)

I dunno, a 225-40-14 could be fun with that gearing and lower center of gravity. But probably not enough to overcome the 280 tread wear. Plus a 14x7.5 rim probably isn't easy to come by.

I see the first pic but I don't have a frame of reference to figure out exactly where that is under the wheel well.

Oh sorry. That's the passenger's side front wheel well. The left side is towards the inside of the car, the right side is towards the outer edge of the fender

Feel like swapping "street" wheels?

It might benefit you to have the same tires for your class... and slightly smaller/lighter wheels for your rubbing/hp issues.

14x6 10.5lbs. isn't too bad.

*tries further convincing with mind powers*

I already said I was thinkin abt taking a set of hollow spokes off your hands if the price was right, but those will probably be track day / PDX wheels.

I was hoping for a swap.. hmm..

Do you happen to have your stock wheels? (7 spokes)

I'll see what I can work out once I get some new wheels/tires(13x8's).

Chris, I'm not in any rush. When you get your situation figured out and you're ready to get rid of a set, let me know and we'll see what we can work out.
