Looking to improve MPG

Looking to improve my fuel mileage in the MSP.

This weekend I will:
- Change oil and filter
- clean air filter
- change plugs
- adjust tire pressures

These are other things that I have thought about doing, but aren't sure about their effectiveness:
- Engine flush before changing oil
- Fuel Injector cleaner like a Redline SI, BG44K, etc...
- Oil additive like Lucas
- Transmission fluid flush and change (not sure if it affects fuel mileage, but i've been wanting to do this for a while)
- Different type of synthetic oil.

Suggestions would be great... brand names and examples of how products have helped would be even better. Thanks!

MSPs don't have cruise control! ... although i wish it did!

I was gonna run some of that Redline SI fuel injector cleaner through my system.....

did not know that about CC.....i was going to say stay out of boost, too. when i stay out of boost with my Jetta, i can average well over 30 MPG on the highway. My city milage really sucks due to my driving habits......bet it would be the same if i had an MSP!

pull your cats. If you dont have a piggy back system you can get around 35 mpg.

SeaFoam helps, but the best thing is to get a fuel computer and stop the stock ECU from shooting gas out the tailpipe. Oh, and don't floor it everywhere

I have read that injector cleaner is bad for a FI motor.
I think it was in the owners manual.

i got 36 mpg with just an intake and circuit sports catless j pipe doing about 80 for 350 miles. no cats works.

yup, specially without engine management. once i put in the UNIchip i went back down to about 28

About one month ago I went 418 miles on one tank with the fuel light only being on for about 10 miles. My goal is 450 miles. I usually fill up at about 380 to 390 miles lately unless I rip around where I fill up at around 320 to 330 miles. And when I fill up I only put in 12.5 to 13 gallons. Oh and I drive like a fricking grandma too. Sometimes I punch it on an entrance ramp. Just drive more conservatively. Without hitting it it's just an n/a 2 liter which doesn't use much gas. Since I fixed my cel with the spark plug non fouler method I have noticed a huge increase in fuel economy. I laugh at all my friends with slower n/a cars that have to fill up every 250 miles at best. I love my car.

So you lost fuel efficiency when you added engine management? I always thought it would help with that.

What are you running for vaccum when not in boost? I used to run 2 when not venting around 14
