Leaking Oil Sending Unit - why?

The knock sensor "insides" are suspended in some sort of goo. It seems to start leaking over time. Touch the middle of you knock sensor to see what I mean. BTW Beck Arnley seems to be the same as the factory knock sensor. Check out link below.

When you say knock sensor i think you mean Oil sending unit . thanks for the link yeah Beck Arnley is a good quality brand to go with but i cant say there the same as OEM

I should have quoted the guy talking about the knock sensor, my bad.

And the knock sensor I removed from my car had the same mitsubishi part number as the Beck Arnley one. I searched for pictures of other knock sensors and they too were mitsubishi part, but the part number was not readable. That's why I say they seem to be the same as factory.
