so i will be attending the drag strip saturday and i am looking for advice on how to launch.

my mods are PG SRI/TIP and stock open downpipe.

launching tips would be greatly appreciated. i know it greatly differs from launching on the street.

I have only been to the track once but I didn't think it was much different that my launches on the road. At least with our modest power. Its AWD so regardless your not going to get too much wheelspin if any. At the track I suppose you could launch a bit higher. I ran a 13.7 with an intake / bpv and launched at 4K.

13.7 with just an intake and bpv? Very impressive. I'm not sure why, but I've seen people with many mods done to there cars, including AP and what not running like 13.5s. Always made me think a lot of it depends on the driver(shrug).

I've also been thinking about tracking my car this summer. I'm a bit afraid since I've never ran before lol... I heard you should shift at 5500 rpms but I was unsure for launching.

I'll sub.

yup, professional drivers can launch a STOCK MS6 for a 13.4sec 1/4 time.
a LOT of factors in 1/4 times depend on driver skills.

13.7 means he knows how to drive! shifting at around 5500-5800rpm is good, launching at 4000rpm is potentially the best but actually kinda risky for our cars cause the rear diff has been known to give out from that... even saw an axle break on an MS6 from a hard launch!

lol the only time ive ever launched my car was at the track...with a intake ran a 14.2 @ 95.3 and a 1.8 60' but i also was sooo nervous cause my 4wd light came on that i didnt pay attention to where i was shifting so instead of shifting around 5800 i was shifting at lik 6200-6300 but lol i launched at 5k

I haven't figured out how to launch this car properly still after a few tries at the track. I remember others saying that you want to launch around 4k, let the clutch slip a little, and then shift just before 5500, except 1st which you can take a little deeper (not sure why).

A huge amount of it depends on driver skill, which I need to drastically improve. I think the main thing is to launch properly, and shift fast and smooth. I'll give it another shot this year after I get my TT rear diff mount and CPE rear diff brace installed. Yay for less breakage! (crossing my fingers I don't lose an axle)

My First and only time I ran the MS6 at the track I did terrible. I launched at 3500k and ran a 15.1 at 94mph. It definitely takes practice and that's something I'm not willing to do so I'll keep my crappy 1/4 time.

3500 isn't enough juice. I have a hard time getting a good launch unless I give it 3800+. Maybe its just me though. And feather the clutch which makes me cringe lol. I was shifting to second almost by the time my foot was off the clutch from 1st.
