Kenwood KDC-MP919 select speaker type - help

The Kenwood in my Speed (think it is same or similar to what they put in the MP3's) has a place to select Speaker Type. You get to it by setting the system to "ALL OFF" and hitting the Q button. Mine was set to 12" Type A Woofer and "OFF" for the Speakers. First, what the hell is this? My speakers were not "OFF". Secondly what should we set this to?

I am guessing the speakers should be set to 6*9/6 inch and the Woofer to 8 inch.

The manual is written in pure Chinglish. It tells you how to change the setting but not what it really does. "Speaker setting allows the System Q settings to be fine tuned according to the type of speakers." Changing the speaker selection has a big affect on what the real audio controls do and how the Q settings sound, including the User Preset.

We have a thread about "grins" going on in the Mazdaspeed forum where this is beng discussed. So far 2 others have reported that their setup is set to Woofer "OFF" and Speaker "OFF" which is confusing to a layman but I guess means that fine-tuning is "OFF" and use some sort of default.

OK found it and it is in the manual, page 10.
Chinglish, thats terrible but funny!

The only thing the speaker and woofer settings effect is the System Q setting. System Q is the preset Rock, Pop, Jazz audio settings you can choose from. Defining the speaker size just tells the headunit to tweek them a little differently.

That's what I was thinking but unless my ears are failing me it also seems to tweak the "User Preset" setting since that is what I always use. Correct me if I'm wrong, one can not change those System Q presets - I never use them anyway, they are awful.

I guess I need to play some more and/or get my hearing checked.
