Ipod Cable...

Anyone put in an after market ipod connector in their 08 or later Mazda5? Wife wants an ipod hook up in her 5. I can get that Mazda cable but know it can be a pita. I think the 08 and 09's came with aux inputs in the center console so I am looking for the alternative...?

I put my Mp3 player in the AUX input and it sound very good !

Buy an aftermarket radio.

That's what I did, though it is still sitting in the box since the kit is on backorder (through Crutchfield). I went with the JVC KD-S100 with a couple of pairs of Infinity References speakers, one component and one 2-way.

that is all I want is to connect a aux cable, the 07 didnt come with aux so I have to buy the wiring kit from Mazda or a dif head unit. I am not all into a new head unit as we have in dash nav and that gets all confusing having a seperate headunit installed. Plus we have the upgraded 6 disc.

Why go aftermarket? Trying to save a few bucks? I'm thinking it might not be worth it. I just picked up the OEM cable so my wife could use her iPod in the car. I still need to install it, but based in the instructions, it seems nicely integrated into the existing audio system. I wasn't too happy about the $148 price tag, but I did have a 10% off parts coupon.

there isnt an aux plug on the back of the factory head unit is there?

No, the head unit only takes the Mazda connectors. the cable mentioned two threads above plugs in where the satalite radio would. $140 is about what any quality aftermarket would be so I will probably just go that route. thanks!

You got it wrong, the AUXMOD that i've mentioned plug directly in the Mazda connector !
