Intro

Hi guys and gals,

My name is Justin. I'm from south jersey. I joined this site about 2 years ago and I was in the market for a mazdaspeed3. Since then I purchased a 2005 scion tc. I have also in that time crashed my tc and totaled it. I am now in the search for a mazda again. This time I am looking at mazda6's. I like them for the sporty yet luxury look they have. I am attempting to get outta the "race" scene. My biggest question is the head unit for the 6. Anyone have pictures on what they have done with the head unit. Another concern is sub woofers, sorry if this is rambling.

Hey,
I've only had my Speed6 for about 3 weeks, but have been lurking here on this site for months. Lots of great info. Check the audio/electronics section. The first sticky should tell you everything you want to know about MS6 audio.

As far as I know, both the Sport and GT trims come standard with the Bose sound system. The head unit is supposed to be pretty decent. There is no Aux in from the factory, but there are several options for adding an ipod or other device with a direct connection. Speakers are driven by a separate amp under the seat and there is an 8in sub on the rear deck powered by its own amp.

To me its sounds pretty good. I have seen several people around the internet do some nice upgrades to both the sub and speakers in their Speed6's. Haven't seen very many switch out the head unit.

I just recently added a 400 watt amp to my system to power my jl audio speakers in the doors. Honestly running off the stock deck the SQ isnt great even with the new amp. This is compared to other units I have heard with aftermarket decks. I hear good things about jl audio's clean sweep. I am going to put this in my car to see how SQ is improved. I dont like the fact that you have to change out the whole panel cover just to put in a deck and it doesnt even match the speed 6's interior. Looks out of place.

I'm erie on the stock head unit because I have become so comfortable with being able to see my iPod on my aftermarket hu.
