Hi folks, I was perusing the internet looking for a decent forum that might have some good reference information on the current Mazdaspeed6, when I stumbled onto your forum. Looks to be a great place to gain a little Mazda knowledge for sure!

I am currently driving a modded Forester Xt(pic below),and have been considering some alternatives.

I did get to drive a speed6 today and it seemed like a pretty decent car overall. I am most concerned about the availability of mods though, and found only one manufacuturer, CPE that seems to be in the process of developing a few parts for the car. I will be doing some searches to gain more info, but any info regarding aftermarket performance parts would be appreciated. Of particular interest is engine management options or lack thereof.

I am 48, but have owned Evo's, MCars, S4's along with a host of others, and wrench and mod all of my own rides. I am after a car that can provide a visceral driving experience, and still have a few creature comforts as well. The Mazdaspeed6 seems like a great baseline to start from, but I am definitely hoping the car has some decent mod potential.

performance upgrades are comming around FMIC, TMIC upgrades, turbo-back exhaust, a lot of suspension parts, etc. as for ecu upgrades, cobb is currently developing an ecu upgrade for the mazdaspeed 6 and mazdaspeed 3 i hear its comming out some time in spring of next year.

Thanks for the reply ! I was doing some searches and came across a reference to cobb in the mazda speed 3 forum. I am currenty running a stage II Cobb AP map on the Fxt, and I was getting ready to install a VF30 turbo with a custom PDX tuning AP map. Luckily all of the suby related parts sell well on the open market so if I trade my car in I can get my money back out of the parts and pieces.

Cobb really does a good job at tuning cars and when I read that they were going to be putting some effort towards the Mazdaspeed 6/3 I immediately felt more interested in the car. It looks like TBE, exhaust, and suspension pieces are already available, with FMIC and turbo upgrades in the wings.

The car I drove today really ran well for stock, so with a bit of tuning and some well engineered go-fast parts the car should be smokin!! Prices are really right on these cars currently so I am really thinking this is the right way to go.

Thanks again for the insight!!

Jeff

hey no prob. as soon as there is a little more competition with aftermarket companies, prices should drop a bit.
