ID'ing Struts

I picked up my Speed6 used (of course), so I do NOT know its Mod history.

I know some aestetic things have been done (Sharkie, Rims, Blacked out M in the front) and its obviously lowered. I looked, but I did not see a label of any kind on the Struts/Dampners (whichever term the Mazda-Crowd prefers). They are black bodied and have 2 Horizonal RED strips around the body, each strip about an inch thick..

Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like factory shocks (the Mazda 6 platform does not use struts) to me. I'm not aware of any aftermarket company that makes a black-bodied shock like you describe, unless it's a custom job.

I'll see if I can't grab a picture. Compairing my Spee6 to Fez's at the Ohio meet, his, on stock suspension has far far greater wheelgap than I've got. The consensus there was it's def lowered, but couldn't find a label..

I'm used to see'in black struts on the car's I've wrenched on in the past (even aftermarket), but never with the strips, so I'm lost on this one..

I used to work for KYB and they make factory mazda shocks for AAI where I worked and they used paint stripes as ID marks to pair them with the correct spring based on the drivetrain. They make aftermarket parts at other plants.

Thanks! I'll still try and get pics up (I've got other issues that have popped up now that have to be addressed first... http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/show...n-Fuse-(120A)-removal..&p=5439888#post5439888).. Again, I don't know any of the mod history of this thing, but I wonder if they didn't just throw springs on and didn't change the strut/dampner..
