I think I'm saying goodbye...

ahhaha soo funny to me because im in almost the same situation as you lol

my parents just bougt a 02 337 gti in silver and are planning on registering it soon but now after investing tons of money in the msp im thinking if i shoud just sell the msp and buy the 337 off them (hand)

its not like i dont like my msp, it has been good to me so far but i have never been more paranoid about something going wrong with any other car before. thing for me is that ive allways been hardcore into vw before the msp (ive owned 4 allready lol) and looking at my brother's gti just makes me want to go back to vw even more (smash)

it makes it soo hard on me and he is faster too lol...he is getting his 16x9's deep rims put on by the weekend so it will be even harder lol

The 1.8t is a decent motor, IMHO I think it may be a lil easier to get power out of than the msp and there are plenty of mod options available for it. The GTIs are sweet little cars.

That being said, every car has its drawbacks.

I manage a shop and from experience working VW & Audi cars I can tell you this: my shop's owner, our techs and myself would much rather be working on just about any japanese (other than maybe some Nissans) or american car than we would a VW or Audi. They are more difficult to work on, period. You will also find your self buying specialty tools depending on how far you want to get into the car. Also, the dealer's charge an arm and a leg for parts (even wholesale). It is kind of hard to believe that shop's in your area are more willing to work on a VW than they are your MSP. There are only 2 reasons I can think of. They might be having a hard time finding info about the msp specifically (not much different than p5 though). Or, they don't want to mess with your car because how far it is modded (probably be the same for a highly modded VW though).

I know it's gonna be a helluva lot more work to mod a VW, but there is a guy here at my work that's currently building a 400whp 1.8T GTI. He already said he's more than willing to do whatever work we will need to do on this 337 I'm looking at with me. So I'll have some help with that, but parts aren't an issue either. There's a shop in his hometown that can fab up stuff for cheap. It's just a risk either way I go about it and the 337 will have a lower monthly payment...so I'm sitting on the fence for real...it also depends on this potential buyer that I have.

you could also refinance your speed and have an even lower payment than you would buying the 337

Yeah, that's also an option...honestly, I just don't want this built block going to someone who isn't going to do s*** with it ya know

If you were in my position you may think otherwise. I am tired of dealing with dumbass issues that never get resolved by shops around me. I honestly don't have someone in the area that is willing to work with me on my issues. Besides that there is a VW dealer way closer to me than a mazda dealer. From day 1 it has been issues and continues to be issues due to dumb s***, but I am getting out because I am heavy on the loan and need something cheaper as well. Thanks for bashing the new car I am thinking about though!

?!?!? Where have you been going to get serviced? Ever tried Jake Sweeney Mazda? I worked there for about 7 years, I even bought my MSP from them. I know for a fact they won't turn you away, even if you're modded. They worked on my car all the time, even though I had an MBC and a bunch of freebie mods done to the car. Tons of warranty work, had the sway bar bushings done 3 times, the radio once, the subwoofer twice and I was the first one to have the flash done by them when it first came out. No bitching at all, and it wasn't just me...I've seen several other speeds come through with mods. You might give them a try next time you need work.

I don't even think I can do it...I just can't get rid of this thing. I put way too much money into it to not finish the build. More parts will be had soon...and this build will continue.

Also can't justify taking another risk on a used vehicle that could potentially have the same issues as this one had when I first got it.
