I hate this ******* flash so far...
I never really had the hesitation but I wanted to get some more around town type of power out of it so far it just plain sucks.
My car feels about 1/2 as fast as it was at 12 PSI pre flash.
I HATE IT!
And get this I went in with my Joe MBC and not a word was said at all about it or my boost gauge. However, my car is running 8PSI now hmmm I wonder how that happened.
On the ticket it says verified hesitation through test drive. No TSB was found called tech line and was given new PCM update. Updated PCM and then drove to verify fix.
So he actually lowered my boost on one of the drives.
Which all in all was a damn cool thing to do but man I was used to VRRRROOOM SLAM 2CND VRRROOOM SLAM 3RD VRRRROOOM SLAM 4TH etc.
Now it's smooth as silk I mean smoooth but man it is boring.
10PSI here I come. I guess I will have to readjust my MBC some and maybe this PCM will learn.

My boost does not hold steady any more either. It jumps and drops like a rock. I wonder if he dicked around with the wastegate?

On a happier note the techs seemed very intelligent and the sales rep was very to the point. No chit chat just yes give it ok here it's done.

So you hate it because now your running 8psi instead of 12... lol

Put it back up to 12 and have your fun again, you can let us all know if it blows up.

No I hate because the car is slow as ass now.
And it drives like a grandma mobile no spirit at all.
Before it was a zooming wild ride no it's like hummmm--shift--hummm---shift so I am not particularly fond of it.
I don't think it's just a matter of boost. It FEELS like the car has been de-tuned. Like it is being held back.
And there isn't any sticker under the hood stating it has been flashed.

And have you turned it back up to 12 yet?

No but rest assured it is defintely going up.
I think part of its the fact that now instead of no power then SLAM! It maybe pulling harder from the get go and it just seems as if it SUCKS BALLS!
It is raining here and has been doing so for 1 1/2 days so when it dries out I will test it some more and do some lauches at 9-10PSI, some rolling starts and some other things. Over all it just feels so damn slow.

This is interesting. I set my appointment date for Monday but now I'm getting second thoughts. I will wait to hear the experts (boostisgood, Joe, Chojin etc) comment here before I make a decision though.

Welcome to what people were saying in the other threads but everyone just started flaming them.

Sorry about your car, yash. :(

It all depends on what you want to do with your car, for a stock car in stock form, it does exactly what it should have done. If you want to run higher boost, you won't be able to do that with the flash. Higher boost will still be possible, you'll just need proper managment now that the car runs better in stock form.

if your running increased boost and your happy with it and don't want to get management, I guess it's best not to flash. Just like Joe said.

My stock car is much better to drive then it was before. Do I plan on upping the boost at some point, you bet, but I am not going to do it without the proper safeguards.

Well I think what is going on is a lot of those so impressed by the flash are those who have stock boost level cars and those not so in love with the flash are those who had some seriuous boost applied to their nearly perfect running daily rides.
So it was as intended a fix for those who remain stock and a thorn in the side of those destined for a bit more than a stock ride.
I guess driving at 12PSI everyday for 6 months has spoiled me to a faster car.

Exactly. Which is really all Mazda North America is responsible for. Their job is to get the car running as best as possible in stock form. It would have been nice if they had taken those of us who want to get a little more performance out of our ride into consideration, but I guess the main focus is to fix the car for those running stock and experiencing a serious problem.

It's a little less tuneable for the "weekend tuner, budget tuner (words used in other threads)" because now since the car is running like it should have from the factory there isn't as much room for increased boost without fuel/engine management. Personally I intend to up my boost at some point, but I am not going to do so without freeing up the rest of the path, FMIC, Exhaust, then boost with proper management but that's going to be the last thing for me.

Dude. Here are my thoughts. I live in AZ where the temps are just insane outisde and causes my car to run like a Kia as soon as it gets to temp. I just drove an 03.5 with the flash and it hauled some major ass. It pulled harder than my car when it was at 12 psi with no hesitation!!! If you have no/ little hesitation then dont get the flash. Put if you suffer from it horribly then flash it. yashooa, maybe they messed up. Take it back and talk to the tech.

It's been crazy hot here yesterday and today and my car runs better then it ever has before, despite the insane temps.

How hot is hot to you?? I am pushing temps here that are 110+ during the day. When it is cool at night.....its not AS bad. But the flash will benefit me.

usually it's not that bad, but it's unseasonably warm right now.

at 6:15 it's currently 97 in Morgan Hill, it was over 100 earlier

Good to see you didnt take anyone elses advice when they said take off your MBC.

For all you know he coulda ****** something up and not even touched it..... i mean if you were at 12PSI the second he got it up to 4000rpm he coulda ****** something up

next time remove MBC it's not that hard

Well my car is still stock"i'm a poor mofugger" i was plan on doing a couple of upgrade's to my car but i'm going to hold off on that for a while at least i'm going to have my car's PCM updated by next week hopefully this will help with my car's hesitation some but it seem's like it go's on and off like sometime's it will do it and sometime's it won't anyone else's car do this or is it all the time?

No...that's the way the hes-s-sitation works. It won't happen all of the time.

Yash...sorry it didn't work out for you. It sounds like you want it to have that turbo kick like it did before, like the WRX does. THAT, was the hesitation...it's not natural for the car to be like that. If it actually is pulling harder, and you don't notice it, then it's doing exactly what it was supposed to. However, if you still think there's something wrong, bring it back to the dealer and see what they can do for you. Good luck, bud!
