My boyfriend has a 1995 Mazda Protege and for his birthday I got his a new stereo. He doesn't know I got his one yet and I am going to install it without his knowing. I was checking out how to remove the stereo and there is no screws in the side panels like the cars I have previously changed the stereos for. I wanted to know if someone had an experience with this year and model removing the stereo. It is the manufacturer stereo still, I know that doesn't matter much. Any tips?

I know this doesn't help much, but I bought a receiver from Crutchfield because they have not only excellent instructions, but also the wire harness and block-off plates that are sometimes necessary.

But getting back to your 95: If you do not have a service manual, you may be able to visit your local car parts store and ask to see the exploded view of the receiver. Dealerships definitely have this, but the auto parts shops may, as well.
