Does anyone know how to remove the door panels on the 2012 Mazda5? I am looking to upgrade the speakers and eventually the entire stereo and I am not finding any video or instructions on this online. I already have replacement Xmas tree clips for the ones I will inevitably break.....way cheaper than dealer http://www.ebay.com/itm/170882156514?item=170882156514&viewitem=&vxp=mtr.

thanks in advance.

Damien

ps. I am starting with door speakers and have an alpine head unit, but taking this in stages.

Just Google for the "Mazda5 Workshop Manual". It will learn you everything you need to know and a lot more.

I jumped in and only broke 5 of the plastic clips, installed Focal 5x7 access 570CA 1, and immediate improvement. Amp and head unit change next...thanks for the manual tip.

I buy from crutchfield.com and they send those Mastersheets that have pics/renderings with straightforward instructions which helps. Since I've done this so many times (not on the Mazda5 as of yet) try to use just your fingers, usually they engineer the retention clips with enough force that using your bare hands to pull it off is enough, if you use tools, even soft tools, and you are not seasoned you can scratch panels an painted surfaces, which pisses me off personally.

You will need replacement clips, but when you put the panel back on, make sure you grease each clip, I use white lithium grease, works well. This is so that when you take it apart again (like to sell the speakers or change them again) you'll lessen the chance of breaking a clip again, and you need less force.
