My local dealer called us and they said that they need to do a 5000 mile check up on our P5. What needs to be done on it?

why do they need to do the 5000 mile checkup?

if they're talking about the normal maintenance schedule, it's just an oil and filter change and lubrication of joints...all of which you can do yourself.

Yeah that's basically it plus rotation of your tires. All I had to pay was $36 bucks for everything.

if you go to an auto parts store and pick up a 2 1/2 ton jack plus 4 jack stands, it should set you back $40. you won't need the super expensive jacks cause you won't be using them on a daily basis. then oil and filter should cost another $15-20. from here on out, you won't have to pay more than $15-20 for damn good oil and damn good oil filters. plus you won't ever have to pay for tire rotations ever again. just remember, with a doughnut, you want to only go front to back and not criss cross when you rotate tires. do it every 5K miles and your tires should wear just fine. good luck. don't submit to those thiefs from the dealership!

Cool! thanks a lot... I did my first oil change when I hit 3K and I'm at 6 right now and I do it by myself so I guess don't really nead to go hehe

Doesn't it affect your waranty to not have the car brought in to a dealership or a certified mechanic for maintenance though ?
