how do the reverse lights work?

One more thing, if I read your diagram correctly, by closing the switch, you not only sent 12V to the light, but also to whatever cct switches it in the stock config. Depending on the cct config, you might have let the smoke out of something...

Regardless of the point of this exercise, (shrug) here's how it should be wired, given that I understand the concept correctly. Note the changes to your diagram in green.

What you want to do it interrupt the voltage to the reverse light from the brake pedal with a SPDT (??) switch (ON-ON config) that has a 12V source connected to the other leg of the switch. The common leg of the switch carries on to the reverse light.

Note that all disclaimers are in place about melting wires, cops chasing you, your dog dying, etc, etc, etc.

Good luck....

i c what u mean, i'll get another switch that will work today, thanks (thumb)

go "test drive" a volvo or mercedes and get back to us ok?

no, the rear Euro fogs are 100% for sure RED. 100% sure. NOT white with pink tint. dont try to argue, youre the one trying to wire up reverse lights for no reason, not us.
