House rejects gay marriage ban amendment

So if calling out a culture that was hijacked from classic hip-hop artists by these thug gangsta wannabes make me an uncle tom....so be it. My wife works with kids everyday who idolize people such as 50 Cent and the Ying -Yang Twins instead of people like MLK and Rosa Parks who did so much more to fight for the rights that they now enjoy.

I concur(peep)

There is no problem with rants. It's good to get it out.
I feel torn on the stem cell thing. Some of my faith see it as wrong, but I cant help but feel we need it.
We all know that reporters make things out to be far worst then they are.
I dont see why you are mad at our President over what is happening in Israel. As you might have heard we have our own war going and quite frankly dont have enough people to go help. And like I said before, why are you mad that he wont send people over there to help out. Yes you might have the RIGHT to go to a war zone, but if you get hurt dont come crying to us.

And dont get started on the Katrina. How can you feel sorry for the thousands of people that were told to leave but didnt do it? Why be mad at Bush and his people when you should be mad at the people on the State level. The Governor really messed up and no one is jumping on him! And dont get me started all of fraud that the great people of Katrina are doing. Here in Austin it was on the news that some were double dipping into the FMA money. Some were even claiming to be dead so the wives could collect the insurance money and they start a new life because all records were lost.

So dont try to sit here and blame just the Bush administration.

People Rely on the Govt. too much in America these days. I hope it doesn't just become one big welfare project. There are people who truly need help and aid and then there are those who game the system and use it as an excuse to not do anything forthemselves. They blame everyone but themselves. It's ALWAYS someone elses fault.

As much as the executive branch gets blamed for what happened in the aftermath of katrina, the Local and state govts are even more to blame.

Ray Nagin let his people down.....and they re-elected him. If you'll notice just after he got re-elected he said something to the effect of: "If something like Katrina ever happens again, I'll do the best I can but you guys gotta get out of dodge"

and governor Blanco was too busy passing the buck to get anything done. What the heck were they elected to do apart from waste taxpayer money on getting re-elected?

As for evacuating the people stuck in Lebanon, I think that the govt is doing all it can within reason to get those people out. People will always complain that things are not going quick enough, but they have no idea how hard it is to coordinate such rescues and evacuations and they refuse to take any personal responsibility for putting themselves in harms way in the first place. I think that the Govt should do all it reasonably can to evacuate those people but the people should also understand that they put themselves in a risky situation.

Man this thread has gone way off topic. But at least some sanity seems to have returned to it now.

They keep bringing it up because it keeps you from asking the real important questions.

Exactly. This whole issue is such a diversionary tactic. I'm tired of hearing about it. Also, if you define your entire being by your sexuality then you have a very narrow view of life. The first thing I need to know about someone is NOT whether or not they are gay. Don't wear it on your sleeve, nobody else does.

okay Hughes. I got a test for you: Oprah: Gay or Not Gay?(nailbyt)
She's gay all the way! She's got enough money she could buy any man she wanted. This is joking

Why wouldn't a woman with all that she has date or marry? This is not joking!

Does GAYDAR really exist....... or is just just a myth fabricated by the Bush Administration? Is this what they waste our taxpayer money on instead of prefecting the missle defense system? (peep)

because there is no man that is up to the level of "The Oprah". "The Oprah" does not have time for puny men. Besides, I'm sure Stedmon keeps her good and happy.

But seriously, I guess she just feels that marriage is not for her. Shes got too much goin on.

You know, I think the real reason she doesnt marry is because most celebrities that get married end up divorcing in just a few yrs. And she has way to much to loose.

Because you're ignorant on the issue.

No Plutie, it's not ignorance. Ignorance is you responce. But hey you go one in.(ughdance)

And Will Smith is a pretty good artist. I don't think he has ever put out an album that failed. And all of his movies are big hits. So you can't rag on the guy too much with out looking jealous.

Ok, what is wrong with stem cell research?

Hey man, you know that they didn't ban stem cell research right? They just banned using taxpayer money to fund it. There is still stem cell reseach going on privately, also there is still funded stem cell research happening on adult stem cells, umbilical cords and other such organs. The President is just against creating life for sole purpose of destroying it. Almost like human harvesting.

Stem cell research will continue but it will take a while (decades) before any truly useful breakthroughs come from it. I think it holds promise for healing diseases and paralysis e.t.c in the future.

So I'm all for the research, but I think we should proceed cautiously so as not to head down a slippery slope.

But hey if you don't agree with the Pres, it's easy to solve. Just cast your votes this year and in 08.

I just want to point out that I just put forth my opinion without talking trash or trying to strat a flame-war or calling anyone a retard or attacking anyone.

I hope some of the more boisterous members of our forum can do the same.
