2002 Protege 5 Turbo
Was over at my mom's and parked out on the street. My mom has a house in a cud-de-sac. Someone must of came around the road to fast and went strait into my front fender. The tire adsorbed most of the blow and pushed the whole car into the curb. I can't open my door without F'in that up right now. I had to pull the fender out to drive it home. The good think is it drives and brakes okay. I going to stay clear of the insurance company and get my old roommate to fix it. I wish someone would of seen it happen! All I can tell is the car that hit me was white. no one in the area saw it happen.

The most ****** up part... I spent three hours last night waxing with Zymol...
Here are the images: :(

That totally sucks!! How much you think it will cost you to fix it?

I feel that, man. Hope You fix it quick. I would hate to look at my car in such condition.

why are you not calling the insurance, if you are not at fault????

they can't raise your rates if it's a hit-n-run that's not your fault.

you pay for the insurance, why not use it??????

Thanks for the support everyone. Like I said my roommate can do the work. Works for Chapman Auto Body here in Tempe. I'm also going to have him remove my door trim and rear badges while he has it. I'm taking it to him tomorrow afternoon. So going though him will be cheaper than the insurance company. Sure, they'll cover the cost of the repairs. But my premium would only go up.

no it won't. Your premium only goes up if YOU hit somebody.

trust me on this one, I've talked to many insurance agents and they all have told that they can't raise your premiums if you are not at fault.

talk to your agent, tell him that someone hit you while you are away, and see what they say.

Don't you think with it being hard because it was a hit and run? The insurance company is taking my word and no one elses.

no, because a hit and run is considered a one-car accident, and because you will be paying the deductible (since there's no one else to get money from), the claim will actually be simpler than a multi-car claim.

bottom line is, you will pay the deductible to fix the car, but you won't have you premium raised because you didn't cause the accident.

clear?

Not sure what my roommate will charge me yet for the repair but I found out the deductable is $500. I'm going to wait and see what he can do for me before I go forward with the claim.

ZoomZoomH... you were right... thanks for the insight...

my P5 was involved in a hit and run a few weeks ago too. my insurance company took the deductible down to $300 from $500 because it was a hit and run. definetly talk to them about paying for the work. are you sure there isn't any suspension/steering damage? i had body damage, but also a broken lower control arm... insurance paid for it all.

she is driving straight and I see no visual damage to the suspension... I'll get a second opinion from a machanic to be certain...

what tha **** is wrong with people.

seriously. it pains me to know that the first dent that get on my car will NOT be cause by me, and i will NOT even be in the car to witness it happen. I think allowing kids to ride the bumper cars at amusement parks gives them the wrong idea about driving.

My kids will all pay for their cars out of their own pockets, or at least they will have a job and pay for most of it. That is the only way that they will respect the priviledge of owning and driving a car.

I think I'm going to get an alarm, so that when someone taps my car, it goes off so if I can't see it, at least everyone in the parking lot will.

oh yeah okay... typo sorry

Anyone know of some places online that list body part prices? Like, I don't know, a front drivers side fender? I know I could call dealers but I was just curious...

I hear ya man! I paid every penny for every car I've owned. I went door to door asking if anyone in the neighborhood seen it. Nothing! I was in no way obstructing traffic... The rest of my ride is so damn clean after the Zyml waxing... THEN BAM! This happens...

My kids too will know and respect their belongings and others property.

uh, shouldn't your buddy's body shop be doing all the leg work gathering up parts and prices?

work with your insurance company, tell them to cut a check for their estimate on the repair (minus the deductible), and use that check to pay your buddy's shop for their work.

I know dude... Just trying to get an idea while I'm sitting here at work...

I'll be talking with my insurance agent to see if the deductable can be lowered if the body shop cost will be above $500...
