I wanna be a post ***** tonight...

I need some advice on HIDs, as u guys can see on the other thread, i'm planning to install my projectors soon and i have a problem with the bulbs on these headlights: the high beams are H1C and the low's are H3C and from what people were saying on the MX-6 forum, it seems like these "C" bulbs are special order and more expensive and they tend to not last very long. I wanna know what bulbs aftermarket HID's use because I'm trying to decide whether or not to go HID or modify the housings to fit H1 and H3 bulbs which isnt too much work. How hard are HID's to install ? One of my friends from Cali told me he can get a hook up on kits (he works at an accessory shop). If i do go HID, i wanna have the bulbs on at least before the headlight install so it'll be one job. I'm open to suggestions guys !

Aftermarket HID kits don't use a specific bulb. You can order kits for almost any type of bulb. As far as the "C" class of bulbs being special order and not lasting as long, yes in most cases you do have to order them since most shops won't stock a lot of them. In terms of not lasting long, I've never heard that.

The downside to the "C" class of bulbs is that there are fewer colours offered because the demand for them isn't as high.

HIDs aren't hard to install at all. If you know what you are doing it takes about 45 minutes - If you don't it takes between 1-2 hours. It really helps when you have the headlight out or the bumper off because you've got more options for ballast location and more room to get around. I don't think the MX-6's are really that tight for room under the hood (correct me if I'm wrong though). I know on the new 6's it's a real pain trying to install the bulbs without taking the lights out.

I hope that helps sort things out a little. If not - feel free to ask more questions.

thanx for the help ! i'm probably gonna go HIDs since i'm gonna end up killing two birds with one stone for just a little more work.
