Heres my plan as far as mods.

I've always been one to love a car for its looks, and even more so to be driving that great looking car. :) The MSP. Im getting it in the yellow color. As far as body mods:

19" Racing Hart C5's
Wings west Body Kit
Spoiler Removal
All handles, and bagdes shaved (except for the mazdaspeed one)
lower lowering springs
tint maybe
Carbon hood

Now you cant have a all show no go type deal. THe car is quick for its number but it has potential

Turbo upgrade t 03/04
3" downpipe,
Fabircated cat, then nothing after that
Larger intercooler
CAI
Better fuel managment system, I have to look into this
Greddy BOV, "a wicked loud one"

Thats all I have for now. Some of this might sound a bit fantastical, but I did it to my last car "except for the turbo work" and I plan on doing it to this car. The budget should also be pretty extreme, but I will manage. Wut do you guys this?
Anything to add or remove? Ideas? Suggestions? k, gotta run.

Yo guy,

Engine mods are cool. Carbon hood cool. You seem to be right there with the rest of us. But why in the hell would you butcher the suspension on a race car? Why would you shave your door handles? Your car is already a Special Edition. Don't turn it into a Special Abortion. What the hell might as well air bag it too! DON'T DO IT! It's perfect the way it is!

You own a piece of automotive history.

BTW........If you shave your door handles. Make 12 copies of you remote door popper. You'll need all of 'em

yeah.. nix the 19's and lower springs... if you want to lower you car,, get some eibachs.. nice sport loweing... dont slam it...

engine mods are good..

1) Gonna have trouble with the 19" RH's. The 17" are pretty tight already.
2) WW kit?!? Why? Isn't it sexy and exclusive enough? :D
3) hmm...removing spoiler...do a search, we photochopped that a whiles back
4) Shaving...damn hairy cars! :D
5) get something you can adjust teh camber/stance with if you get suspension stuff...that'll be the key to gettting it to look right w/o spoiler.
6) & 7) CF hood could look nice on the yellow, but make sure you get the tint to look right if you do it
8) the t25 is really fine for this car. did you see what JoeP did with it before he traded it off? 20+ psi...eek!
9) dp...good...just get the right one. One that won't toss a CEL every other second
10) Or just go hi-flow cat...not sure why nothin after that, tho.
11) the stock IC is good for a bit...relocation may be easier and cheaper; or just go full time cooling (both are what I'm looking into
12) CAI...I have it...I think I'm the first injen in our area; so far it's really nice
13) Perfworks has fuel AND timing management coming. +600$ or so...but if you plan on going far, there it is :D
14) If you have FM and timing control you could probably go with the RFL and get even louder than the Greddy.

That's all I've got for ya. Hope that helps! I do have one question...why get a limited production car and make it look completely different? It's not my thing, that's all...but whatever works for you. (drinks)

Hey no skin off my back really...the more people around here mod the exterior, the more I stand out again...too many black MSP's around here! :D

razorblade kiss - here are two different Proteges (one Spicy MSP, the other Yellow MP3). One sporting our Orange CF/Kevlar hood the other wearing our normal CF hood. Just to give you an idea:

As for the turbo-upgrade, we've got one available that'd put the T3/T4 to shame :D

Well as far as the 19"s go. The look of big huge wheels jus totally gives me a stiffy. Im still planning on those. Maybe your right about the shaved handles and so on. The popper would be expensive and those s*** out after a while sometimes. But I definatley am chopping the spoiler. I love that look. I dont think Im butchering the car by any means though. I mean, If I put down 20 g's for a car, I should be free to contort it to how ever I like it right? I do love you guys for being constructive in your criticism though. Ok, and you got me. If the 17's are a tight fit, then Im not gonna drop her anymore. The wings west body kit is amazing. They do quality work, and I will end up getting this kit. The stock body mods just arent aggresive looking enough. And it doesnt hover low enough off the ground for my tastes. I will NOT! be rigging this car. I do clean work, professional looking work, I dont slap on garbage, like useless tachs, and neons, and hose covers, and other Autozone garbage like that. I gaurentee when you guys see the end product you will be suprised. I went for the MSP instead of the stock protege because I already have the ground work for a turbo set. Didnt wanna invest the extra into a regular protege. the MSP also has a nice sound setup that I wont touch, beautiful colors, and amazing suspension. I'll definatley keep you guys updated as time moves on. And once again, thx for the feedback.

Hey Ion, can I have a number to get ahold of you guys? Wut turbo size are we talking here, and do you have any bundled kits available yet? I would love to get my hands on one of those carbon hoods. Any discount to board members? Lemme know man. We'll do business for sure.

razorblade kiss - We've got lots of stuff in the works ;) Drop us an email or give us a call @ the # in our signature :)

Ever hear of the GT28? ;) We've also got a FMIC kit as well as matching CAI.

As for the CF hoods yes there are board member discounts.

Check your emails :)

You are definitly creating some challenges for youself and althogh the finished product is not my taste in cars I am interest to see what exactly you have in mind.

As for others comments, I don't see how it matters which Protege you started with. Pros and cons either way. Not to mention half the things you guys have mentioned as being OK apperance mods many other would think are retarded. Just what makes us different, no need to totaly s*** on an idea.

Keep it on the up and up Gents.

Hey if you want 19's I got the perfect set for you, at a damn good price. Pm me for details. These 19's are more limited than the car itself, because they are the only ones in the world.

I think you want personalize your ride and that's great. It always awesome for a protege driver to be proud and try to show off the ride. I like where your ideas are taking you, but I have some negatives about what you're doing. However, I think it's your money and you do what you want. And I think your ride would look sick anyway. And oh yea I like the Wing West Kit it looks nice, and that orange color CF hood, cool dude!!

Here's what I think though about what you're getting yourself into.

Why don't you save up the money for the mod and get a regular 4 door protege, since you're getting a new turbo, new exhaust, a new fuel controller, and a new cats? You're pretty much getting a custom turbo system. And the difference between a MSP to a reg. protege is primarily the turbo and suspension(well get to this in a sec). This way you can also get a better header than the current log runner type in the MSP that will definitely help to flow better with a t3/4 turbo. Now, about chopping off the spoiler that's another thing. You can get a reg. protege w/o spoiler so you don't have to chop it off and it saves you money.

Now about getting it lower and getting new rims, you know this changes your suspension geometry from what the designers had in mind. So to accomdate the lowering of the car you need to refit your struts so that the change in suspension geometry won't detract from the great handling of MSP but maintains it or improves it. This is where I would ask what's the difference between modding the suspension of MSP and a reg. protege since you're pretty much have to replace the basic suspension parts to accomdate the "upgrade."

And the upgrade in tire sizes means more torque require to turn it and your gearing or your speedometer would probably need to be adjusted to properly accomdate the change.

Good points, YuYu...but he'd still have to get an LSD for the proto and that's not exactly cheap. Of course, that's why I just suggested sticking with the t25. If you want to up the boost, you'll be getting FM and timing, and with the money you save on bigger upgrades you can get forged internals and a lower compression setup to boost to holy hell!

Dude do whatever you want to your car, the only thing that should matter to you should be your own satisfaction. I do like the idea of the bigger turbo but 19's damn I know it would look hot but it would be very tight and if you decide to get suspension upgrades wait till Tein makes the coilover system.

excellent points YuYu. But how ever to retain my stubborn status, I want the MSP simply because it is an MSP. The interior, the sound setup, the head unit. I want all these things, but I dont wanna spend the money to put them in a regular protege when I can get them in this. I've worked with 18's before on my MX6, and this time Im going 19's. I wanna fill the fender as much as I can. I know someone down here who works in a performance shop so he will help me with struts, and camber issues, I should have that portion running good. However you guys made some excellent points when it comes to the turbo. The money is still in my checking account and Im still not set in stone as with what Im going to do yet. The MSP also comes in yellow, a beautiful yellow, the stock protege does not. So thats another plus for me? As much as I do seem hellbent on getting the MSP, I am totally open for suggestions. But something about owning this rare masterpiece just pulls me in. And making it even more unique and rare to my tastes just makes me wanna cream my pants. lol. Thanks alot again guys. Lemme here some more....

razorblade kiss - with the right set of 18" wheels and after the car is lowered, your fenders will be pretty well stuffed. There might not be a need for 19" wheels. Especially if the roads suck in your area and you're using the car as a daily driver.

18's are PIMP on the car, I don't think the 19's will be worth the hassle either. Look up Bazooka Joe, he has 18s and they fill the ENTIRE fender.
