help mazda 626 gsi auto (just cut out when driving down road)

i had only just driven 100 metres and car just cut out.
no noise.
tryed to start and wont start.
?? we were able to push it backwards in drive (been told shouldnt b able to do this).
suggestions as to what gone wrong.
