Good News About Hesitation!

would the y still flash the PCM is i have an custom intake on? i cant put the OE box back on i lost the screws :(

I have never liked running advanced timing with a turbo application, I must be allergic to pre-detonation. Ill let you know how the kit does.

Crap- backfiring? Under boost or when you let off the gas? That sucks.. Mine will let out a little pop when I decelerat sometimes, but that is only since I did the exhaust.
Joe

Exactly! Mine is due to almost open exhaust. On the flash, just be careful when you take your car in for service. They often times will reflash you without you knowing. When I had my Focus, they did this to me, and I had bought a Superchip upgrade. Due to the reflash, it did not work.

Yes. This will most likely be a Technical Service Bullentin advising all customers who have(think they have) a problem with hesitation. If is not considered a "warranty repair." Even if the car was out of warranty and a TSB was issued they would have to fix what was mentioned.

Well, you don't really advance it, but you will make more power with more timing and boost if you supress detonation- good fuel, cool air, even a free flowing exhaust will drop cylinder temps.

Actually, I take that back- on my talon, I would run 15 degrees at 23-24 psi on pump gas and 25 degrees at 27-28 psi on race fuel :).. So, in some cases you do advance it :).. I am just saying that in our case, if it is removed, there is no getting it back.

It all depends on how effecient the car is also.

Mine pops between shifts, and only when it's in hesitation mode.

voopshhh, pop! My poor car must be saying " Help me I'm choking on fuel, POP, POP, POP

:D

ok i just got back from my dealer and asked them about this. they have no idea about the reflash, she even took me in the offic and searched some Mazda private W/ sites and there is no info there. next step is call mazda and ask them.

I'm so confused now.......

....I don't know whether to s*** or wind my watch!

Just wind your watch while dropping a batch and you have both bases covered.

I aint flashing s*** my car rocks! No pops, stalls, or hesitations.
I will use Joe's stuff, the Piggy back from Perf/Joe,
CAI (homebrew), and a good exhaust.

Lord I hope this is true -- it would surprise me if it is. And if it is I fear that Joe may be right and Mazda "did it the easy way" by changing the timing.

Hopefully it will be out soon, some people will try it out and see what kind of different it makes. I'm in if it works. If not, Joe's FPR will probably be the only option we have.

You have to remember- Mazda has to keep it safe for EVERYONE to cover it under warranty- we can run the timing and a bit more boost, but they also have to consider the guys that buy the 87 octane from the local quickie mart also- that is why I am worried they will pull some timing also..

Would running 87 octane void your warranty since it is specifically stated that you are supposed to use Premium/Supreme gas?? In Super Street mag. I remember in the Q&A, a guy with a new Prelude wrote them asking why his car was making all these weird engine sounds. He told them that he was using 87, and they just about crapped their pants...With the way Mazda is with their warranty work, I couldn't imagine them covering engine work if someone admitted to using anything less than the specified fuel rating. Does that make sense at all??
