Glove box stuck closed when unlocked - Any help?

My wife locked her wallet in the glove box, but it now won't open even when "unlocked".

Behind the lock under the pull-handle, there was a plastic part loose in there and it sort of fell out in my hand. It's obvious that this part disengages the latch when the handle is pulled.

Is there any way to open or remove the door or glove box in order to get the door open and fix it. The plastic part is not broken, it just came off and it's to small of an area to get it up in there and back in place.

Thanks!

I have no help for you, sorry.

BUT I would suggest that your wife place her purse under the seat in one of the rear buckets instead. Those cubbies are practically invisible, and I've heard anyone w/determination can get into a locked glove box. Locking it just clues them in that something valueable is inside.
