ive gone down to ES last monday and this morning, the exhaust isnt even ready yet. i was told itd be on their msp today but it turns out that theyre not even close to being done. theyre having a toprotege meet on may 30 and i was assured that itll be done and installed by then. ill go check it out and give you my first hand impressions on quality and sound

PS: yes you can have it built without the cat, its slightly cheaper that way too. sorry i dont know by how much since i didnt speak to kevin directly

DZnutz I plan on going as well, we can see it and person and get the pics, sounds etc... and then post them here.

sweet, i was just thinking id really like to check out your ion fmic. i was interested in getting it but the routing of the pipes was worrying me a bit

an exhaust that raises boost??????????????????? Im sorry, but I REALLY wanna see that. I know ES makes good product, and I am in no way knocking that. I just DO NOT believe that thier exhuast will raise your boost levels. :D

While I personally agree with you, there have been several members that claim their boost went up with a DP installed. I never saw any increase in boost with ANY of my mods, it just doesn't make any sense to me. Without physically altering the way the wastegate operates, I don't understand how you can get sustained boost level increases.(scratch)

with a 3inch dp and 3 inch exhaust, my boost went up to 9 psi. this was after my build.

Do you understand "how" though? If the wastegate is set to open at 7psi, how does freeing up the exhaust flow make it open at 9? I could see getting higher spikes before the wastegate opens, but I can't see how the wastegate could allow 2 more psi without being adjusted or tricked by BC.

ive experienced this myself and so ill try to explain it a lil. by opening up the exhaust from the very restrictive sub 2" piping to a full free flowing 3" you lose almost all of your backpressure. in fact you lose so much that the wastegate gets overwhelmed by all the extra exhaust gases wanting to escape through the same hole. the wastegate will open to max and still not be large enough to redirect the exhaust gases out so in turn they pass through the turbine and spool up the turbo more. this is where your gettin the extra few lbs. one solution is to take out the turbo and port the wastegate (if theres enough meat around the wastegate flap). i hope this helps

PS: this is also commonly referred to as "boost creep"

So its not an increase of boost, but actual boost spiking caused by the easier flow of the exhaust gases, and the inability of the stock wastegate to compensate.

correct but becareful with your terminology. "boost spikes" are completely different and they occur when the wastegate doesnt actuate fast enough rather than being overwhelmed

Anyways, back on topic. Im definitely in, without cat. Also, what kind of shipping prices would I be looking at to have it sent to the US. Anyone near the area wanna come down to the us to have it shipped :)

Dont know on the shipping prices yet, once the exhaust is made up we can see how big the box needs to be.

I dont know exactly how the boost goes up, I just know it does :) DZnutz explanation sounds good for me ;)

tekkie, what's up with the price? It was posted on the ES website for $1000 CDN, not $990 USD?

The original price was 1350 CDN, they had some sale on for 1050CDN but I dont think it got the interest they wanted. Either way I think 1100 CDN is a great deal, I mean its pretty much the same as the ION one and its 1300US so there is a huge difference in price.

how could they have had a sale if it still isnt ready? but either way knowing that it was on sale for 1050 i certainly wont pay 1350

s***, if we can get 10 people lined up, it would only be 810 (possibly cheaper w/out cat) for a complete 3" exhaust system. Thats one hell of a deal, plus arent they claiming it made 25whp? :0
